Our real estate market is a joke. How can they claim housing prices are going up with a straight face? We've got depression levels of unemployment, travel restrictions from all over the world, and an economy that runs on tourism.
Hey, 12:03: Are you denying that the median price of homes has gone up? Do you claim that the Board of Realtors (or some other nefarious organization) is falsely reporting the sales figures? Your comment is foolish.
I wonder how the market is sustaining itself, but the numbers are what they are.
It's a crazy time man. The winners keep winning and the losers keep losing. If you've got a good salary and money in the bank, you can get an outstanding loan right now, which explains house price hikes despite a global pandemic.
Hey 12:14 – are you suggesting that an organization that represents people who literally make money by inflating housing prices would be trying to artificially inflate the market? Are you suggesting such a thing has never happened before in this hellscape of a real estate market? Do you remember 2010 or were you still in high school?
Realtors are scum, and they'll prop up prices to the extent they can. But they don't have the power to create demand where none exists. That's what I learned in 2009, when house prices plummeted despite the best efforts of scummy real estate agents.
12:03 aka 1:40: Your first post claimed that the realtors were lying about the prices for which homes are selling. Your second post seems to have abandoned that position (which I challenged at 12:14). You are now attacking realtors for artificially inflating the market. What is the problem with that? Isn't that their job? Such critical legal analysis!!
My first concert at 15 y/o was VH at the forum in LA…1982. Great show, went to many more after. Super bummed out today.

I love the "undertheradar" handle! (Very creative!!) I'll bet dollars to donuts the poster lives in his parents' basement and complains constantly about the meals his mother prepares. Don't worry junior, it's Tuesday — that means fish sticks and Finger Jello tonight.
2:17, you are absolutely correct that, as to 1:54, it is neither creative nor humorous. It is merely partisan posturing masquerading as satire.
But with that said, I must admit that Accomplishment 812 is mildly amusing

Why can't pro-Trump supports criticize Biden in a logical, rational, constructive way? It doesn't affect me but it just seems so infantile and childish.
I'm fine with the fact that some people like Biden and some people like Trump. And the "likes" for this election are stronger than ever for this election. Oh, and on top of this, a small percentage of voters (as always) seem to like some third party candidate.
But Trump supporters – at least the very vocal ones – criticize Biden like they're in 1st grade. These rabid supporters are so anti-Democrat that they also call our governor "Sissy" or Sissypants" or some other lame ass designation.
Did you critics miss the 1st grade and not get all this funny name-calling out of your system?
I don't recall the Republicans criticizing Democrats over the last 20 years from sounding so childish. Or am I looking through to the recent past through rainbow-and-ice cream-tinted glasses? Seriously, let me know on that one.
I think a decent amount of the attacks against Trump are about of the same quality. Anyone serious wrapped up in politics on either side is caught up in the propaganda of their choice.
This is more a statement about a lack of education than it is about any particular political party. I know plenty of well-educated Republicans and plenty of well-educated Democrats and both groups are fully capable of discussing political issues without resorting to name-calling or personal attacks. In some instances, the uneducated struggle discussing these issues in a meaningful way, so they resort to name-calling. Both political parties have members who are guilty of this. You just need to recognize it for what it is and ignore it. Members of both political parties love this country, they just have different ideas about where this country's greatness comes from and how it should be governed.
yeah…no. all of my lib friends just routinely refer to trump as "the orange man" and call him racist. so…I think there's a level of sophomoric rhetoric on all sides. also – i'm a trump supporter and its exhausting to try and advocate for trump because no one wants to listen to his accomplishments. they just say – bad man. so i don't typically go far with facts. so for me it's not a lack of education. for me – i'm tired. i'm frustrated that so many people ignore the facts of the accomplishments of the administration and ignore biden's 47 year history of doing nothing. nothing i say will change any minds so i stick to memes with all of bidens actual racist quotes, that sort of thing.
Excuse me, we call him an "Orange Clown." (If you are going to paint your face orange and go out in public with that hair, you are going to get called a clown. That's just the way it is.)
2:27. I think it goes both ways. Some people are so rabidly partisan that they not only can give no credit to anyone, for anything, who belongs to the opposing party, but they also pointlessly vilify and condemn anyone in the other party.
You mentioned about how childish it is, and that is largely the explanation. When people act like this it does not mean they are highly principled, informed and passionate about their central views and beliefs. That is how they want to be perceived–as focused, passionate holy crusaders.
But what they actually are people who are totally intolerant of others of differing views, and are also people who understand no nuance or shades of gray. And that all harkens back to the lack of maturity you mention. Also, most of these people are actually woefully uninformed, conduct none of their own research and never attempt a deeper dive on any issues, but merely mindlessly, and aggressively, parrot whatever clichés or talking points are currently in vogue with their party.
But where our paths diverge is that you attack republicans for this, but democrats are at least just as bad.
The reason for that is because this dynamic is not more likely to occur if someone has a particular political affiliation (i.e. it is not more likely to occur in republicans than democrats or vice versa) but is created by the mentality of the person who is such a rabid partisan. The problem is intolerant people, who are open to nothing which challenge their very narrow world-view in any sense, and there are millions of these people in both the major parties
OP, obviously dems do it to, but let's be real it's not nearly to the extent I've seen in the last 15 years from the GOP. Ever since the advent of the internet comment section it seems like right wing commentary has been limited to democRAT, demonRAT, libtard, Obummer, leftist, Sissylack, RINO, and the like.

The Bailey Kennedy invoice to Boulder City is interesting. Most sophisticated clients would complain about this invoice. They bill in .25 hour increments, for multiple internal strategy conferences, multiple attorneys are billing the same amount of time on the same day for the exact same task, and multiple attorneys on the same conference call bill different times for the call. Reminds me of what they did in "The Firm." This is a giant waste of taxpayer money.
Really great point. I know at my old firm I would have never been allowed to get away with this as an associate. Which is basically why there was no cooperation, internal strategy conferences or anything like that because it resulted in this sort of triple billing. But as long as they got away with it without redlining, with an obviously paying client, why not take a shot.
(Side note, I thought .25 billing has been gone for at least ten years by now)
I've worked for clients that pull this stupid shit, and I've worked for clients that give me the autonomy to go win the case. For my best client, my billing entries are commonly 8+ hour blocks of "work on X," and I get that client great results. I find these rules arbitrary and unhelpful to the ultimate goal of the case. Do they really want people working together on the same case to not coordinate on the case? Does that seem like a winning strategy?
i hear you but nothing will come of this. the person who reviews the bills should catch this crap. i'm sure it's a senior partner. also – what's wrong with multiple attorneys billing? if me and a colleague are in a meeting with a client – do we arm wrestle over who gets to bill for it? no. do the work, bill the time. don't lie, don't commit fraud and get results. having said this- i've seen so much fraud in my 20 years – even blown the whistle so to speak and nothing – nothing- ever happens. interesting reference to "the firm". i saw that movie recently and thought it would never play in todays day and age because it's so acceptable and prevalent.
The dumbest rule of billing in private practice is that internal strategy sessions are often not billable. That is where the client is getting the most value in my opinion. It helps focus the team on what's important instead of having three lawyers independently going off on tangents then having to incorporate all of that independent work into a cohesive legal document or argument. It's maddening. You don't want to leading partner to have a quick meeting with their associates on strategy and workload assignments to avoid hours of unnecessary work? Good luck with that.

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.
