As mentioned in the comments yesterday, Gordon Silver’s landlord is suing the firm for failing to pay over three-quarters of a million dollars in rent. The case number is A-15-719863 if you want to see the gory details.
No raise for Henderson City Attorney Josh Reid, but he does get a 3% bonus. [RJ]
No prison time for former lawyer Jeanne Winkler for her role in the HOA scandal. [RJ]
On Monday, a whistleblower witness described some of what happened in the neighborhoods affected by the HOA scandal. [RJ]
How did Gordon Silver not get evicted? That's a lot of months of non-payment.
And I recall someone posting that the GS partners voluntarily didn't take end-of-year draws. So, in other words, even without paying rent, they still had financial issues.
I would love to see their financials. After many years of presumed profitability, what changed in how the firm was running to cause this?

How did Jeanne Winkler avoid prison. There were so many issues with her and the bar. Didn't she raid her trust account and blame it on former Judge Jones's financial scheme? How much did her clients lose?

With so many lawyers leaving there, so many getting left behind, and so many scrambling elsewhere, it's a wonder that none of them seem are posting some of the insider rumors about what actually happened. What's the point of an anonymous board if you won't come post all of the dirty details that we all want to hear?
Why are the former GS associates that just arrived at Dickinson titled of counsel? Is there a pay distinction between the Dickinson associates and the incoming GS associates/Dickinson of counsel?
Weird. Is it weird that the later coming GS partners came in as Members and Jeff Silver is only an of counsel? Does that just mean that he doesn't have to deal with the partnership issues and/or tax issues? Maybe it's better to be an "of counsel" with an origination agreement. Thoughts?
I think he was counsel at GS, too. I could be wrong, but I think that happened within the last year. I read it as he's getting old and he wasn't happy with the firm's financial moves. Especially if you're toward the end of your career, expansion of overhead = less short-term pay with any payout likely coming after you're gone. This is all an assumption on my part.
Makes sense. The word on the street has several people talking about the guaranty that all the equity partners signed for the TI, etc. As an "of counsel," that wouldn't be a requirement I suppose.

Looks like there's only one Dickinson associate. Weird that they wouldn't be consistent.

Winkler seems to dip her toe into every dirty deal. A real solid citizen. Steals from her clients, condo owners, AND Leon Benzer. Wonder what kind of nonsense she's into these days. Hope she stays clean during her "supervised release".
In the summer of 1997 BarBri class, for which she ran the VCR, she bought a bunch of candy and pop and ran a little snack bar during the breaks, and everyone was pissed because of her high prices.

They are above you.
Who does the hiring over at Dickinson Wright?

From the photo, she certainly is not starving even though she can't work as a lawyer. What's keeping her busy and fed up in Reno?

And she didn't pass that year.
She's working as a paralegal.
Seriously, how are the doors still open over there? They've got to have a dissolution plan in place by now.
The GS website is just a black screen this morning.
