A question: Just because Jones has taken senior judge status, does that obligate the federal court to use him?

I like and respect Damian. These kind of anonymous, conclusory, mean girl comments are dumb.

From his website: "With approximately 4,000 clients having entrusted Mr. Sheets to represent them in over 6,000 cases …" I'm not that good with math but it seems like either repeat offenders or multiple charges. I'm a family law lawyer and my site should say 1,000 clients and 100,000 issues

11:58 you object to anonymous "conclusory" mean comments…would you prefer that the poster post a brief detailing the basis for a personal opinion?

Re: senior status. Our federal judges should have a mandatory retirement age of, say, 75 (and I mean full retirement, not senior status partial retirement). I personally know a judge on a Fed. Circuit Court who is 80+. I've known him and his family for years. He is a great man, and was a fine lawyer in his day, but now he can't find his way out of a room half the time. I know these judges have smart clerks to keep them on task, but the risk for deterioration past 75-80 years old is too great.

There's that pesky problem of the Constitution…. Lifetime tenure is just that.

No doubt, it would require an amendment, but it's one that should be made. Judge Posner has spoken pretty eloquently on this topic.

People weren't living as often to 75, 80, 85, 90 when the Constitution was written.

An expressly stated age limit would certainly require a constitutional amendment, but nothing would prohibit the House from impeaching, and the Senate convicting and removing from office, judges who stay on the bench beyond the point in time when they are no longer physically or mentally fit to serve.

Makes me think of the episode of Arrested Development where Lucille tries to make it look like Michael was driving the car when it was actually her. Then I remember I am mad at Jason Bateman for bring awful to Jessica Walter.
