2:17, you are correct that the judges in family court are even more incompetent than those in the district court.
Similarly, the average level of competence of the attorneys who regularly practice in family court is far lower than that of those who regularly practice in district court.
Family court is a circus.
In my experience there is very little that is “civil” in civil court but the Family Law practitioners have taken snarky, client kool-aid drinking ad hominem personal attacks against each other to a seriously refined level. Several of the Judges channel that ugly vibe too which is a shame.
You know, I have been doing nothing but civil practice since I got out of law school, but recently took a family case for a friend. It is shocking how opposing counsel flagrantly disregards the rules of practice and court orders. I don't know how you guys put up with it.
Sounds like a lot of opinions from the peanut gallery, does anyone who actaully practices regularly in family court have an opinion?
10:19– I am 2:17 and am in Family Court routinely (as well as downtown). If you have a different opinion, share it. Otherwise you are simply confirming the snarktastic nature which 5:00 indicates (and I know) prevails on Pecos and Bonanza.

I practice mainly at family court, and in no particular order Sullivan, Hoskin and Duckworth. These 3 reliably apply the law and use their common sense. Most of the rest on the list are mediocre. Then there's the rogue's gallery…Moss, Pollock and Elliott.
I practice regularly in family court and every one tries to apply the law, but ultimately does what they think is right regardless of the law or rules. I am not even sure why there are rules in family court. No one follows them. They each have their own issues.

Sandra L. Pomrenze should never be a judge in any court let alone family court. She is a bitter woman, does not read both sides, makes orders and goes against her own order? How can the court system keep her on the bench?
That's what I want t know…why would you keep an old bitter ass judge that doesn't really cRe about the well being of the kids..she is a piece of shit for a judge and doesn't give a crap about the kids…whom are the most important in the situation..
She doesn't care about the kids best interest. She ordered ex to pay $400 due to moving expenses, %18 of income is $600. Wow…taking child support away from children.
I was in court to see this this horrible judge in action. My friend ex got the ok to move their son away from ALL his family who lives here in Las Vegas included siblings only because his ex not joking got married the day before court. On top of it she ordered he pay for travel??? How is that fair on top of paying child support and gave him a WHOLE $50 deduction a month for him paying for the flights and he has to pay for insurance and his ex I feel should pay half for the flights and half on the insurance. I have NEVER seen such BS, something does not smell right because his ex also works for a lawyer who LIED in court for her, stating they had to move because her new husband owned the house in CA and owned a business BOTH WHERE LIES. Even though he presented this to the judge she said she didnt care. Also had the son go speak to a therapist and didnt care what the kid had to say because he said he did not want to move at all. She should be thrown off the bench and banned from practicing law period.
Male or female makes no difference she is equally un fair and unprofessional, does not look at the evidence and is ruing lives. How do we deal with this? Why do the people of Las Vegas put up with this? I am tired of watching this train wreck and want someone to take ownership of this mess. I am willing to call every news paper radio station form a picket line whatever. These judges have way too much power here ans it is ruining lives. check ot the FB page some one started.I am going to put our story on there if you want to read some un real stuff. This has been going on for over two years for us with this woman.
Pomrenze is absolutely, hands down the worst judge out there! My husband and I have been dealing with the system for the past 12 years and her for the last 10! I could go on and on with horror stories about her decisons which have ultimately and are currently ruining my step childrens lives. She cares nothing for the kids best interests. She is completely biased and unfair. My husband and I with our attorney have presented motions with over 90 pages in evidence detailing his ex wifes drug use, alcoholism and mental illness, along with sworn testimonies of the multiple live in boyfriends that she drags through our kids lives and Pomrenze continues to side with the mother. And not only grant her custody but order us to pay fraudulent charges as well as bascially support her because she refuses to work. The system is already broken but Pomrenze is as corrupt as they come!!! Our kids are in danger if they haven't already been ruined for life. And this is our future generation….
Potter is a monster, ripping away a 3 month old breast feeding baby from his mother to go with his abusive druggie father and his heroine addicted boyfriend me and my son thank you for the emotional trauma and respecting our rights as to making us stop breastfeeding you disgusting ignorant pile of shit!

I regret voting for judge Matthew Harter like others I agree he is rude and uncaring he victimizes the victim and says nothing to the abuser shame on him all I can say what he sows he will reap and I hope and pray if he has daughters there never abused and they have a judge that takes the abuser side. Your just a pawn being used by the abuser I thought judges were supposed to be smart shame on you.
When election time comes do not vote for judge Matthew Harter he is insensitive and does not have your child best interest maybe he comes from the Warren Jeffs sect he doesnt care for women much even if the truth is right in front of him apparently his father carried him for 9 months. What a disgrace to the judicial system.
Google search for Judge Charles Hoskin, Commissioner Jon Norheim, Attorney Julie C. Arnold, Atty. Carol Kingman. I understand that these are about the family court judges and when you read from other individuals who went through with their cases from Judge Charles Hoskin, I believed them to be true that he is connected with conspiracy of taking bribes. It is happening to us but we are going to seek justice and there will be one day that a government agency will take the case very seriously if not, then there is no justice in Nevada if most or majority are corrupt court officials using the court as their authority regardless of what you think whether you are right or wrong if you do not have the money, too bad.
What a complete disgrace I witnessed in Judge Bill Henderson's courtroom. How is it ok for a judge to take only words as facts when another party as documentation proving to the contrary? Judge Henderson never even looked me in the eye throughout my hearing. Not only did he allow an attorney to launch vicious attacks, but he refused to look at REAL evidence. Furthermore, he denied a request for teenagers to state their preference and how involved each parent really is in their lives. I always believed that truth, evidence, facts, and integrity would prevail in legal matters. I've been proven wrong. Thank you, Judge Henderson for opening my eyes to how one-sided judges can fail children and their "best interest". When's he up for re-election? Nevada needs to get rid of such a disgrace.
Ritchie is, by far, one of the best judges on the bench and it is a shame that he is going to have to go through an election. The nonsensical rantings of the anonymous disgruntled litigants that like to malign him on internet forums show that he probably made the right call in their cases.
Everyone says they want judges to follow the rules in family court, and then get angry at judges like Pomrenze that actually do.
That is hilarious, she makes up the rules as she goes.She does not even enforce her own court orders.

In April 2012, Judge Steel let a father take his two boys out of state to live. Previous to that, the mother and father had joint custody in Nevada. During the trial, the father called the babysitter (of four years) to the stand who had a testimony that was definitely for the mother (backfired on him) and Judge Steel wrote in her order that "the babysitter, mother's witness, was not a credible witness."
Parents moved to Nevada in 2006 with no other family and both kids were born in Nevada. Now, the mother has to work three jobs in order to pay child support to the father when he makes mid 6 digits in salary. The father ended up moving further away from the mother after winning custody which makes it even harder for her to see her kids. This mother is the most kind-hearted person you would ever meet, she reminds you of a kindergarten teacher. The father's family is on the mother's side even. I know this, because I am one of them. Try to avoid this judge!
Sounds like Pomrenze, she has ordered one parent who already pays child support to the other parent (who does not work even she ordered them to get a job 2 years ago) to get a second job to prove they are a good parent! No logic with these people
Jennifer Elliott's scores declined significantly from 2010 to 2011, and written comments suggest a couple of causes. In the earlier survey, 70 percent of the attorneys thought she should be retained, but that score dropped to 59 percent in the latest survey.
Worst judge in Las Vegas….so many bad review and from her own piers
Judge Gonzalez ruled that a 100% Disabled Veteran was "willfully unemployed" and that his disabilities were for "carrying guns and military equipment only" and that it did not prevent him from holding a civilian job. It is his re-election year, and time for him to go. He is bad for families, bad for kids, and bad for anybody disabled that may have the unfortunate experience of being in front of him.

It is amazing that they have allowed him his full 6 years term. He yells and rants in the courtroom which is sooo unprofessional. He is up for re-election and I beg anyone reading this that has the choice to vote for him to please vote for the opposition candidate. PLEASE!
I agree with you. He is very unprofessional and should not be reelected!!! He has done the same to my son taking his daughter away from him. Destroying the the relationship and the love. How can you say you are a Family law judge. You separate the family.

Judge Jennifer Elliot has done a great deal of harm to families. She has on many occasions put children in harms way. Another term would be a huge mistake.
I agree. A child makes a death threat witnessed by the Judge Elliott. She orders a psych eval of the minor. 8 months later psych eval still isn't done. Her answer? Keep minor with the mom who isn't getting the child help. Eventually mom will get him help….or he will turn 18. She has torn this family apart. She should NOT be re-elected!!!
Had been wondering how the RJ review would look at Sandra L. Pomrenze for retention. Glad to see the results aren't all that good. The Honorable Sandra L. Pomrenze should be ashamed for her conduct; and many of her decisions. I would hope that readers ask her and her staff regarding Case D 354973 D. She may recall this action in which she granted leave for a US born child to be removed to Taiwan. The Honorable Sandra L. Pomrenze even allowed the mother to AGAIN be allowed to take this child out of the country and back to Taiwan; all the while knowing the mother had wrongfully restricted and withheld the child already.
Presently the father and the US State Department are trying to retrieve the child through the Courts in Taiwan. The father in fact has been engaged in trying to retrieve the child for several years.
Criminal charges should be made against the Honorable Sandra L. Pomrenze; and I frankly wonder how she sleeps at night. There is a status of law and that of common sense…which frankly was not used at all.

Judge William Potter is at it again. This guy is out of control and needs to be REMOVED from the bench from the Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline. Potter awarded a non custodial parent child support! A mother who hasn't seen her son and the father who is raising the child has to pay the mother WTF!

I've had my share of issues with this judge reversing clear and rightful orders too. Unless we spread the word and try to get him voted out, we'll endure more of his senseless rulings. You have to vote guys and appeal to everyone you know to vote him out. He's on the opposing counsel's Facebook friends page for goodness sake. Now that isn't a professional thing to do.
