https://people.com/morgan-and-morgan-billionaire-attorney-says-he-told-remote-employees-we-re-going-to-put-a-camera-up-your-ass-12074943

(1) ATMS alum, how does this compare to your experience?

(2) PI colleagues, according to the bar directory, there are 7 attorneys in the M&M Las Vegas office. Is this number normal? Higher? Lower? I mean relative to the presumed case volume given the ad saturation. Is the business model to leverage paralegals? Isn’t that what all PI firms do? My search shows that, by contrast, Rick Harris has 26 attorneys, including himself. Is Rick Harris just not as ruthlessly efficient as John Morgan? Does Rick Harris have too many attorneys? Does M&M have not enough? In terms of personnel do these two firms have a different business model?

(3) What’s the pay like at M&M? For attorneys? Paralegals?

(4) If you were advising a 3L with an offer from M&M what would you tell them?

ATMS alum here – while I have blocked most of it out, I recall an “ass-in-seat from 9-5” policy, being absolutely bullied and harassed by low level “supervising attorneys” that had about 3 years of actual attorney experience, and being prohibited from using yellow highlighters. M&M sounds more miserable.

At least it was an attorney in your case. I remember LeAnn’s assistant telling attorneys how long their lunches could be and when they could and couldn’t use vacation.

For me, I find it true in both situations. I am more productive to manage my files while I am at work. When writing, however, I like to be at home because there is less distraction and no one comes in my office every 5 minutes.

I watched Wolfson’s press conference where he patted himself and his team on the back and suggested no other team in the country could have pulled this off. Didn’t the defendant admit to his involvement in the murder to police years ago (with immunity) and then again in a memoir (negating immunity)? For a non-criminal lawyer, it doesn’t seem like such a feather in the hat, apart from the media it will bring his office. Someone who lives in that world please explain.

Do you expect a DA to give a press conference and say that his staff had an easy task and he is in no way impressed?

Any high profile prosecution is a pretty big swing for a DAs office.

I really doubt any of them thought the work they did was insignificant or that their task was easy.

I would be livid if my boss didn’t support my team after a victory like that.

People underestimate the impact and importance of loyalty. Good leaders get it.

It was easier than addressing how he’s prosecuting his close personal friend Jon Ponder, who is currently represented by his close personal friend David Chesnoff. Certainly there’s no conflict of interest or consideration of special treatment that would prevent Ponder’s case from being fairly adjudicated.

Trump can just pardon Ponder, again.

Trump can’t pardon state court offenses – only federal. That’s why he cannot pardoned himself for his New York convictions.

I mean it’s been 30 years since he was shot. A lot of those things are forgotten about and never given another look. Staying on top of it and making sure he was held accountable when he slipped up is certainly commendable.

Q: How about accountability for DUI and crimes where Wolfson’s office accepts very light plea deals? How about the victims?

“Staying on top of it”? He had confessed to police in 2009, then publicly detailed his role in the killing in his book in 2019. He wasn’t arrested until four years later, September 2023. Better late than never, I suppose, but not even close to “staying on top of it.”

No statute of limitations for murder, so what was the rush, right?

Kind of bizarre DA cut off reporter offering condolences. And kinda weird how jovial he was at the conference.

I can’t pretend to be in anyone’s head, but let the man deal with the loss of his wife of 40+ years however he wants to.

Exactly. Also he’s trying to fulfill his elected role in that press conference. Don’t try and derail him or make him cry by bringing up his deceased wife live on camera to get yourself a half second of fame. Offer those condolences on the side after if they’re genuine.
