Whether elementary, middle school or high school, the morning traffic chaos in school zones and the failure to provide safe ways to get children out of cars and into school entrances, contributes to those 84 accidents. Private schools do a much better job.

In my day, we walked to school, and this rarely happened. It is the giant traffic jam twice per day with people blocking traffic and jumping out of cars whenever they feel like it

My kid’s school does the dumbest thing, they allow you to drop off your kid between 8:40 and 8:55 only. The gate closes right at 8:55. So those 15 minutes are a complete circus as hundreds of kids have to be dropped off. People pull in and out like crazy people. Annoying parents have to park and walk their kids to the gate for some reason (its like 15 feet, cut the chord). This is not even counting the buses that pull in and out of the same drop off zone. It’s silly. They out to open the gate at like 8 am, and close it at like 9:15. Would take lots of pressure off.

He has looked a little run down lately as well. A lot of attorneys and partners left the firm this year so maybe he’s run a bit ragged.

At least 2 times so far. But his only partner is Art Ham and his only employees are his daughter, who is a brand new attorney, and a sole caseworker/paralegal, so how heavy is his case load?
Maybe he is trying to hand his daughter a law practice.
Eglet may be doing the same with his daughter, Jordan.
Fortunately, the kids had nice mothers.

Road rage driver; One thing to express road rage, Another thing to followa woamn to her house. Quite another to pull out a gun and threaten to kill her. While never a proponent of violence, I understand the boyfriend coming out of the house and taking no chances (even if he did have an outstanding warrant),

Re: Bellagio lawsuit.

“Vargas-Gutierrez is asking for judgement in excess of $15,000”

This is a true statement. However, do you think the newspaper owes an explanation to the reader that this is just a jurisdictional statement and not an actual valuation of the case? A person not familiar with Nevada’s district courts couldn’t be blamed for assuming that the $15,000.00 is some kind of minimum substantive valuation of the case.

They always do that. You’d think that the person on the courthouse beat (if it is a person and not some AI nonsense) would have figured that out by now.

11:15 PM here. If I became suddenly wealthy, but still wanted to work, I think I would pursue a career as a courthouse reporter for a newspaper. I would need some training, but honestly, not much. I think I could do an excellent job of explaining cases in a way that is both accurate and accessible. It would be a fun challenge, and a fun job.

It’s rare to see the marijuana DUI fatality isn’t it? I thought that was the biggest argument about legalizing pot–you never see a high driver killing anyone.

Who cares? If you’re DUI, you’re DUI, whether you’re stoned or drunk. Don’t get behind the wheel. And this fucking clown took nearly a dozen kids to school every day–likely high every day. Asshole needs to go to jail for a long, long time.

These takes are far too obtuse vis a vis THC in the blood stream constituting DUI and actual impairment.

By which our current THC Metabolite levels as codified should be evaluated and adjusted.

I take a gummy shortly before bed most evenings. Really helps with sleep, but I have no idea what my THC metabolite might be when I’m driving to work 9-10 hours later. I feel great and well-rested, but honestly no clue what a blood draw might show, if anything.

Riddle me this: uterine cancer is far, FAR more common than penile cancer but historically theirs been far, FAR more research into penile cancer than uterine cancer. Maybe some plaintiffs firms should address that because they are such great advocates for the people blah blah blah

When I started driving 30 years ago, Las Vegas cops staked out school zones diligently and Las Vegas drivers followed school zones strictly (or paid the price).

Maybe 5-10 years ago, it seems like something changed. Now drivers speed and whip through school zones and I rarely see police and never see enforcement. Perhaps it is a post-COVID situation, but I think it goes back further than that.

Am I alone in this? Am I misremembering?

I live near the school where the 12 year old was killed. There is a pretty strong CCSDPD presence in the area, likely thanks to Lied’s CCSDPD parking lot or something there. I see cops in the school zones in the area all the time, and this still happened. People don’t stop for pedestrians. They whip around doing u-turns. And yeah, they park in bike lanes.

If Obama winning the Nobel Peace as a baseline then Trump should be given 100 of them for the deal signed today. Is it possible for liberals to at least acknowledge his achievements here?

Liberals will never give Trump any credit regardless of how deserved it is. Obama got the Nobel Peace Prize for literally nothing. Just simply getting elected President. When told he won even he said “for what?”. Trump, on the other hand, in barely 8 months, has brokered now 8 peace deals around the world. Doubtful even the most educated of the liberals in this blog will set aside their TDS to agree that he deserves it.

I think Obama got it because they were happy with the American public for electing someone who was seen as a likely reformer after the fiasco from 2007-2009 that W left behind.

Obama should not have received the Nobel Peace Prize, but Trump sure as hell doesn’t deserve it. He’s called out the military against US citizens. This is disqualifying under any definition.

What, specifically, did President Trump do? What, exactly was the brilliant proposal that only Trump could come up with?

It seems to me that the “deal” Trump offered was either Palestine surrenders unconditionally or he’d let Netanyahu do all the war crimes he wants. If I am wrong, please correct me.

If there were a Nobel War Prize, President Trump would be a great nominee.

I’m pretty sure nobody has ever publicly requested the Nobel Peace Prize so shamelessly and so frequently. Give it to him. He really, really wants it. Everything else is a joke. Why stop at a Peace Prize?
