I can’t see article. Was shooter arrested?
Said no comment on whether charges has been filed.
My best guess? The PI attorney requested the police report and HPD refused to release it because the case is still “under investigation”. That means that they either haven’t submitted the case to the DA, or the DA has not decided on whether to file charges yet. By filing the lawsuit, the attorney can subpoena the reports.
Of course, the initial reports should be public record and the alleged victim should have the right to see at least the initial report without having to hire an attorney and spend the money to file a lawsuit, but that’s the way we allow the cops Nevada to operate.
I have no personal knowledge of this case, and my opinion is worth exactly what you paid for it.
I would like to see a thread on towing and these tow companies. I have been wrongfully towed three times.. Each time it was improper. I paid the charges under protest and got my car back. Afterward I pursued the threat of legal action and got my money back. In one case, the tow company was hiding on the side of a building and towing cars that were parked in handicap designated spots. The signs were improper–threatened fines not towing. I helped keep the peace between a victim of the tow and the tow truck driver. Those towing companies are crazy. More often than not the police favor the towing company and driver in an altercation. I was roughed up by one tow company at their tow yard. No doubt it is hard and dangerous work to be in the business. We have all seen the show “Repo” or “Repo Man” which are staged incidents. Nonetheless I would like to hear from others and their experience with towing, tow companies and legal actions to get cars back.
Sorry, can’t help you. If someone was unlawfully parking in handicapped spaces, I am 100% for towing that shit and letting them walk home. The faster, the better.
By the way, for handicapped parking violations, no sign is needed. NRS 487.038(3). Tow away, my good man.
Yes., Good call, lets deputize every asshole tow truck driver who catches a person parking in a handicapped spot on private property.
Hell, lets incentivize them and give them a birddog for every car towed. How many HC placards will end up in the trash. “Wasn’t posted!”
We don’t need to deputize tow truck drivers. NRS 487.038(3) already says to tow truck drivers that as long as they call the sheriff and let them know they towed it away, tow that shit. My family members with the proper placards shouldn’t have to struggle more because some asshole wants to park illegally.
No argument with the premise. My parents are in the same boat.
I just don’t agree at all with unfettered police powers being given to these hooligans. And make no mistake, these drivers are the dregs.
Incorrect interpretation of the If the sign says fine then the remedy is a citation. If the sign says “Towing Enforced” and lists the towing company and phone number. In my case, I had the handicap placard but it apparently fell down when they towed the car. They claimed it was not properly displayed. I could see the sticker on the ledge of my dash. I wrote to the property management afterwards and put them on notice that they were authorizing towing. In one case, the sign was turned around and a patron had their Mercedes towed. This is a strip mall with a health club. I watched as one ladies van who was visibly disabled with children had her van towed. She was taking her kids into the Laser tag game place and forgot to display her sticker. The tow truck was hiding and just ambushing patrons. If you are illegally parked, they are supposed to give you a sticker warning and or a citation. I have only seen proper signs at casinos where they plainly state handicap and all others towed. If it says fine they are limited to fines. Towing at HOAs is another example of towing abuse. Recently a bunch of cars were towed from parking lots at closed businesses near the Chivalry event at Sunset Park. Previously a towing dragnet caused cars to be towed from downtown where there were empty lots with no signs. I would be curious to hear about the experience of others. In one case, my car got damaged and returned to be when it was towed at a law office where I was parked for business. Fortunately, the suspension damage was covered under my new car warranty.
Sorry for the typos. Meant to say incorrect interpretation of the law. The remedies are limited by what is spelled out in the signs. If towing enforced and clearly states, then they can tow. If it says fine, then limited to citation or warning. A lot of cars get towed from casinos for unauthorized overnight parking.
The towing industry is a racket.
My firm has some personal injury cases. In one our client said that the tow truck driver had given her an attorney’s business card at the scene. The partners did not want to file a bar complaint, but wow. That’s completely unethical.
In another one, I had a divorce case where the husband was friends with a tow truck driver. The wife went to the family court house to file for a protective order because the husband was beating the crap out of her. The husband had followed her there and immediately called his friend who showed up and started loading her car onto the truck. She had to get the marshals to make him unhitch her car.
So yeah…tow truck drivers in this city are scum.
My spouse and I have lived here for 30 years and neither of us have ever been towed, wrongfully or otherwise. Besides parking in handicapped spaces, where exactly are you parking?
Anecdotal stories are not evidence.
And smoke doesn’t often mean fire.
You must be a blast at parties. . . . .
Everywhere and anywhere there is parking. If there is one obscure sign regarding towing apparently they are authorized to tow. I would venture to guess that at least half of all tows are illegal. Most people just give up.
I don’t.
I am sorry / not sorry.
The Uber Shower thing was effing HILARIOUS!
I hate how “hilarious” is being used these days.
Well, I found it hilarious. I am sorry / not sorry that you don’t approve.

The youtube/tiktok pranks are tiresome and not funny. I can’t believe someone would be so stupid as to show up at someone’s door like that. Tanner Cook got shot in broad daylight, on camera, for “pranking” someone and the jury acquitted the shooter. It’s not a prank. Pranks are supposed to be funny and everyone is supposed to be in on the joke. Terrorizing and scaring people isn’t funny and no one is in on the joke. It’s just jerks creating content and trying to get famous online at the expense of other people.

Much of what is channeled on both is silly, nonsensical or boring.
Good as a time waster for younger attorneys who are pretending to work.
I am as far from a younger attorney as you can be. But I still found it amusing.
The easement on the temple site is the definition of a nothing-burger. Easements are made and vacated pretty frequently, depending on if the way the property is developed changes.
