My 10yo came home from school and told me that he learned why Nevada is the Battle Born state.

He told me that during the civil war, where the United States of the North fought the United States of the South, George Washington's side needed another state, so they added Nevada.

Maybe EHB can take that money and build another shrine to Hardesty. Good luck CLV appealing against EHB to Hardesty's Haven of Horrors.

I have no idea whether Jara was doing a good job or not, considering all he has had to deal with (COVID, unmanageable bureaucracy, meddlesome Board, unions, whackos of all stripes showing up to scream during meetings, etc.), but I can't imagine anyone in their right mind wanting to take this job. It's been a revolving door for as long as I can remember. We have this near-religious belief in "local control" over schools, but the result of that is you get a polyglot of unqualified PTA moms and idealogues of one kind or another trying to micromanage everything and making a total hash of it.

Eye popping LSAT scores?
3 points is "eye popping"? The writer must have been trained by Jen Psaki.

See…I was gonna agree with you about the dumb LSAT headline and then you had to stupidly snipe at Psaki. Love her or hate her, she's 100x smarter and more successful than you'll ever be and she has nothing to do with LSAT scores.

Mentioned as a example of overstating facts. My successes or achievements are irrelevant and is your attempt at deflection. Like you, Mrs. Psaki's talent is deflection and spin.

Firm is based in California, so no Nevada Day observation here. Just as well, most of our cases are USDC which pretends Nevada Day is not a holiday anyways.

The articles about Jara's termination don't mention that CCSD will now have to pay Jara for the remainder of his employment contract (July 2022). I'm certain that the $250K paid vacation going away present from the CCSD Board will soften the blow for Jara.

From the Independent article "His employment contract states that in an event of a termination for convenience by the board, he “shall be paid all salary and monetary equivalent of employee benefits owing to Dr. Jara hereunder until the end of the term or extension of this Agreement.”

Based on how much I am sure they made in that badlands disaster, I would hope they would spring for Disneyworld this year.

@ 5:43 That is a really tired topic. Every business, court, municipality and county bends over backwards to avoid even the appearance of discrimination.
Find some other another excuse.

Straight talk from Walmart is actually pretty great. Been using it for about a decade now. It''s about $50 a month. It's a good deal if you pay cash for your phone like I do.

Free phone-T-Mobile. Recently bought a new I Phone 12 when my I-Phone 7 died. Pay for the phone upfront. I am not aware of any "free I Phones". Are there truly free phones when you switch service. Does T-Mobile build it into the price to the monthly bill? What is the commitment if you cancel. I have AT&T and pay under $90.00 a month for two phone (grandfathered plan). How much are the monthly charges? Any insight would be appreciate.

I have six phone lines, four iPad cellular lines, and home service from ATT for $480 per month. Unlimited phone and data. Not even sure if that's competitive.

The phone isn't "free," the cost is bundled into the contract and monthly fee. It's cheaper to pay cash for a phone and then just pay for the cell/data service only.

Long time t-mobile here, almost surely, the "free" phone is paid back as bill credits over 24, 30 or 36 months such that if you leave them during that time, no more credits in fact then you might owe the balance on it.

If you have a good phone to trade in, and you stay with them the phone is free. You get bill credits every month until the phone is paid. Pretty good deal. And you can due it every two years if you are big into always having the latest and greatest.
