Can the committee that makes recommendations on unfair lengthy sentences take a look at my marriage please.

It is a life sentence, commuted only upon going broke after costs and divestments required to shorten the sentence.

How do you steal a casket? With a body inside, probably weighed 250+ pounds. Must have had that meth strength going.

I hope F1 leaves Vegas and never comes back. It was an absolute nightmare the entire time they were in town and then months afterwards. The County Commissioners are scum. Complaints were ignored. Streets were needlessly blocked. Communication to residents and businesses impacted was non-existent. Then we find out that our County Commissioners got VIP access to the entire show and got to rub elbows with all the rich euro trash at the paddock. The Commissioners can go to hell and F1 can follow.

I have not watched CourtTV since the OJ trial and now I have watched it 3 weeks in a row. I know I am dating myself but you used to be able to watch CLEs on CourtTV. I remember they played the full “Younger on Evidence” series.

Good riddance to Resort Corridor Court. Every few years, someone thinks they’re gonna end prostitution. If you want to help these girls, put your energy into legalizing and regulating prostitution.

I’m still amazed Redden cleared the bench. Maybe he missed his calling and should’ve tried out to be an Olympic long or high jumper.

Judge Johnson says JAVS stands for “Jefferson Audio Visual System.” It was called that in the past, but it’s not called that now. It’s Justice AV Solutions. https://www.javs.com/

They changed their name 8 years ago. https://www.newswire.com/news/jefferson-audio-video-systems-javs-is-now-justice-av-solutions-8000573

I guess we shouldn’t be too surprised the judge is wrong–or out of date, at least.

Anyone else think it’s interesting that Redden is being tried in the EJDC? It doesn’t look like the defendant sought to change venue. Does it strike anyone else as odd or noteworthy that a judge of the same court as the victim judge is trying the case?

On reflection, I guess his best shot at a (more) favorable jury is here, and I can’t imagine judges in the other judicial districts in Nevada would be any more favorable on sentencing, if he’s convicted.

I guess they could have changed the venue to White Pine County. That way he wouldn’t have so far to go.

His attorney didn’t file a single motion prior to trial, despite having some good grounds to challenge several of the charges.

I don’t know if he took the case for cheap for press coverage or was appointed by Office of Conflict Counsel. He’s well known in the criminal defense community as being an attorney who does not file motions or fight for his clients.

On August 30, 2024, the Nevada Supreme Court entered an order vacating a prior rules amendment order and entering a new order repealing and replacing the Nevada Justice Court Rules of Civil Procedure. https://caseinfo.nvsupremecourt.us/document/view.do?csNameID=65764&csIID=65764&deLinkID=961672&onBaseDocumentNumber=24-31332

The new JCRCP take effect Tuesday, October 29, 2024. Unfortunately, there’s no redline showing the existing rules against what will be the new rules (as was done with NRCP), except the redlines which were filed with the various petitions seeking to amend JCRCP. So unless someone wants to take on a redline project, beware of many substantive changes lurking in the new rules, including changes the Nevada Supreme Court might’ve made on top of what was petitioned for.

More info at ADKT 0607.

Yes, I believe so. The second amended indictment isn’t online yet, but it includes seven counts, including attempted murder on a person aged 60 or more, battery on a protected person on a person aged 60 or more, intimidating a public officer, battery on an officer resulting in substantial bodily harm, performance of act in willful or wanton disregard of safety of persons resulting in substantial bodily harm, battery by prisoner, and unlawful act relating to human excrement or bodily fluid.

Thank you! Just checked the live stream and you are correct. All charges.

I thought he had a chance to beat the attempt murder charge but the testimony must have made him nervous. The judge and the law clerk did well on the stand.

I am assuming a guilty but mentally ill plea will give him a better chance at more favorable housing when he is sentenced to NDOC.

I’m assuming his attorney filing ZERO motions before trial made him nervous. At a bare minimum, a writ should have been filed challenging several of the weaker charges before trial.

I’m hearing the attorney filed 0 motions prior to trial and is now pleading him to the Attempt Murder charge?

A quick search shows this attorney has two public reprimands against him. Office of Conflict Counsel should not be allowed to continue to keep this attorney as appointed counsel.

I’m not excusing what Redden did, but there are obviously some serious mental health issues at play here. The whole thing is just sad.
