- It’s Veterans Day. We offer our thanks and acknowledgement to all veterans for their sacrifices and contributions to our society. While the courts are closed today, we know many of you are still working, but we hope that you’ll take an opportunity to reflect on the purpose of this federal holiday. If you want a good place to start, check out the History of Veterans Day.
Our firm is open today. Pisses me off as a veteran.
You should be entitled to the day off even if your firm is open. Our office is open today but I'm not sure why. Probably shutting down by 2:00-3:00. Stupid.
What law firms are open today?
What law firm isn't open today
Richard Harris is closed because we love our veterans. Also, the parade makes things a bit difficult logistically.
Lot of law firms are not open.
Nope. Only Richard Harris.
My current firm is the first I have worked where we are not closed on federal holidays. I feel ripped off!
Who cares? It's like you'll be inundated with calls. Besides, you need to bill the hours anyway so you won't have to stress about them at the end of the month/year.
I already met my billable hour requirement for the year, thank you. But, thanks for pointing that out. I now feel more ripped off!
Just waiting for the mail…then I'm outta here!
I hope you're not still waiting. The mailman had the day off too.
Since this is an anonymous blog, I want to vent. God bless you Veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice– the same way I blessed you on Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day. But one day to recognize people for doing the job that they are paid to do is enough. The worship of the Military in our society borders on ridiculous.
Wait, why did you bless the veterans on Labor Day? You're supposed to thank unions and such on that day. You know, because you're…..oh.
Most of you probably don't know this, but Veterans Day was actually created to celebrate the Mexican army formation in 1812. Funny how the truth gets lost among the silly American traditions.
huh?
Haha. Sorry. I meant 1821. Thanks for catching that!
OMG, thank you you validating the fact that this profession is filled with a bunch of assholes.
Only when you are here, Fuckface.
Picking on veterans and calling people "Fuckface," only special place for you my friend.
This is a sad reflection on our Bar.
Who is picking on veterans? Are you some sort of special person or something?
It has nothing to do with the Mexican Army smartypants. Go ask your google machine to tell you about Armistice Day.
"Veterans Day is often misunderstood to be linked to Armistice Day. This is a common misconception among many in the United States. In fact, Veterans Day was first commemorated in celebration of the formation of the Army of Mexico in 1821."
Here is the link: http://bfy.tw/2kdD
Maybe you should try using Google once in a while.
11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month….It has nothing to do with Mexico.

oops.
He may not be special, but you are! 🙂
Wait, can I include a smiley in the comments?
Our pleadings would be more entertaining if we could use emoticons in them. "Plaintiff has continued frivolous and vexatious litigation with the sole goal of driving up my clients costs." ಠ_à²
Its late, I should go home now.
I've always wanted to use "tl;dr" at the end of my motions for the lazy judges who decide not to read the whole thing.
