Did you vote in the Board of Governors election and wonder what the outcome was? Look no further, results are here.
The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals will hear argument related to Nevada’s gay marriage ban on September 8, 2014. [RJ]
No class action for you! The Supreme Court of Nevada rejected the argument that the district court abused its discretion in denying class status to homeowners in Sun City Summerlin for stucco-related construction defects. [RJ]
On Sunday, the RJ’s Glenn Cook listed the five election races he thinks will be the most exciting this fall. Two of the top five were judicial races and included one that many of you may not agree with. His two exciting races? Richard Scotti versus John Glenn Watkins in Department 2 and Douglas Herndon versus Michael Davidson in Department 3 (really?). Are those really the most exciting judicial races we have?
I have a legitimate man-crush on Herndon. Top three state court judge IMHO. Most tellingly, in my trial, Plaintiff's counsel felt the same way. Fair, reads everything, solid demeanor.
I think he said he could spot a pedophile riding next to him on a bus.

Clearly, Johnson v. Hafter is going to be full of fireworks.

Off topic. I'm a 3rd year associate. Small firm. Litigator. $75k, no benefits. Respectable, though not certainly elite, academic credentials. If I go out looking for a new job, how much more could I reasonably expect to make right now in this market?
The preceding comments are about right. I think about 10-15K more in salary plus benefits. I need to know about your practice such as practice area, trial experience, etc. Call me. There's a small chance I may have something for you.
Jordan, I get weekly email blasts from other recruiters about openings that "are perfect for me," but I'm still waiting on my first email blast from the shark pimp.
July 2, 2014 at 6:45 AM – Well that's very flattering but I'm afraid you'll be waiting a long time. The Shark Pimp doesn't work that way. I contact people, not mobs. July 1, 2014 at 4:58 PM is an individual who happens to be in the right place at the right time; it's rare that I'm looking for an Associate.

My admiration for Glen Cook took a hit with his statement: "Davidson, one of the top lawyers in town…"

I haven't been around Davidson in a while but in the past he has exhibited an unpredictable and volatile demeanor.
Don't forget Davidson claims he can spot a pedaphile just by looking briefly. Quite a talent.

Honestly, unless you have clients who will follow you, I'd say you'd probably be looking at a similar salary plus some benefits.
It's luck of the draw. Start applying and see what you can get, I think you can definitely be making more than $75K–I'd say probably between $90-100K.
I agree. You're probably right in line with what you'd get at any other firm. You might get some benefits, but very little increase in salary.

The Las Vegas boy scout who died in San Diego of a gunshot is the son of attorney John Shook. Condolences to the family. http://www.mynews3.com/content/news/story/San-Diego-Coroner-IDs-boy-found-dead-at-scout-camp/aBAjqBz53EiWWKwEhQGJjQ.cspx
Horrible.
OMG that is so sad. Condolences to Mr. Shook and his entire family.
Davidson is circulating an e-mail that he is ahead of Herndon if the election were held today. Seriously. Sounds doubtful.
Sounds like he hired Cantor's pollster
Shouldn't Davidson be out using his superhero ability of spotting pedophiles instead of campaigning?
