It’s the first day of school for CCSD which means there is a lot more traffic and a lot of kids out on the streets in those school zones you’ve been cruising through all summer. Please slow down and keep an eye out for pedestrians!
Someone sent me here to ask my secret legal question. I need a good employment attorney. My old boss (married and has kids) manipulated me and other ex-employees into giving sexual favors and having sexual relationships. Then when he got tired of us and wanted to move on to another, he treated us like crap to force us out. We never worked for him at the same time but we have been in touch since we left and we'd like to hire someone that won't cost a fortune to represent us. We have texts and emails and other proof. He is well known in Las Vegas for his type of work and we are worried about him coming after us so we like it to remain quiet for now even though most people probably know that he's a womanizer and adulterer. Can anyone recommend a good attorney or give tips on what to do? I was gonna let sleeping dogs lie but I think he will keep violating female employees if we don't come forward and fight. I'd like him to be exposed for all of this before there are more victims.
This is a question for women attorneys and staffers. Is the fear of losing a job that great that you would forgo your self dignity and worth to keep it? Or did you believe that the attorney you mentioned was going to leave his family for you?
I am not original poster, but I have an opinion on everything, so I am responding. Probably a little of both. It feels good to be loved and wanted by a powerful man. People also dream of a better life and when times are tough you have a hope things will be different. Feelings and emotions overtake thought process. It was clearly wrong to hook up with a married man, but in the moment you justify things you do. Ultimately, the boss has to be the boss and can’t sleep with the staff.
Responding to 1:59 PM, so where is the crime or liability. If she and others justified their choices and actions for the reasons stated, then there is case. There is no law the prohibits a boss from sleeping with staff. I think it is wrong, pathetic and stupid for a boss to sleep with staff, but it happens all the time because underlings are gaming the system. This is as old as time. Women sleep with men who are in positions of power to gain an advantage, whether it be financial or personal.
I’m a defense side employment attorney and I’d say she has a case based on her version. Having multiple women come forward plus mistreatment towards the end of employment after termination of the relationship makes it even stronger. And if accompanied by threats and/or bullying it’s absolutely criminal.
How long ago did this occur? You have to file with the EEOC or NERC and you have to do that within 300 days. Also, how many employees work there (must be at least 15)? Based on your version, you may have decent case but, many times, these cases can be complicated. Was it ever actually expressly posed as quid pro quo (i.e., Do this and if you don't, you will get fired? Or, do this and I will give you a promotion)? If not, did you feel this was implied? It is not a per se Title VII violation (or crime) simply because a Manager/Owner is sleeping with staff.
2:25, you think a jury would be sympathetic to associates sleeping with a married man? Genuine question, I'm not asking that in an accusatory manner.. To OP, I don't know how far along you are in your career. I say this as a fellow female attorney, are you sure you want to "expose" this, which will include your identity and, hence, your reputation? Is there a way to warn other female associates? I sympathize with you, tremendously. But I also want you to think about the very real and very unfair possibility this could end up harming your reputation. I wonder what others think?
I know a couple of women who sued their employers for similar behavior. Reality, they got some money not enough to be financially independent. The other issue, they can find employment. There is already a negative inference that said potential employee will sue potential employer

I’m so depressed sincerely – Olivia newton john passed away – biggest star of my high school years – I remember skating to all her songs – life seems so short
Very sad to her of her passing and not that old too. It is funny when we think about our past when we were younger and thought that life was much better and the world was more sane. However, I think we put our reality filters on and forget about the dark moments.
WOW! A former president of the USA had his home raided by the FBI. Also, I just learned that the bill congress just passed will basically double the size of the IRS. Watch out all you republicans and Trump supporters, they are coming for you. Scott Adams was right when he said republicans will be hunted and "killed" after the 2020 election.
How will the government staff 87000 new IRS positions? I can't imagine America has enough competent workers. Then again, maybe the correct political affiliation will be the sole prerequisite.
If 87k new IRS positions are what it takes for a 706 closing letter to be issued timely, or for timely determination of SS-8 claims, or for someone (ANYONE) to be available to pick up the IRS's phone once in a while, I'm all for it. Isn't that the charge that the GOP always lays at government agencies' feet: that they are inefficient? Well, woefully understaffing is inefficient. Time to inject some efficiency.
I love the IRS. They are a very noble agency. I don't think 87k new positions is enough. I think we should have added over a million new positions. The IRS is a very efficient agency, and the only issues they faced was because of under staffing. The IRS is really cool and awesome. I love Biden's America. Go IRS!
The IRS is so behind, they are worse than the unemployment division in Nevada. You send the IRS a check, they cash it, then they send you a late notice saying they didn’t get payment. It then takes 14 months to resolve it with them because they are so behind. Yes, they need more staff.
9:10, my God are you dumb. You think 87k people will make the govt more efficient? 87k people to do the job of 50? You clearly don't understand the issue.
I'm not a government worker. I'm just an attorney who has dealt (and crossed swords on more than one occasion with) the good people at the IRS. For the most part, I have found them to be professional, diligent and solid people. The ones I've interacted with are just as frustrated as anyone at their inability to respond timely. They are hamstrung by decades of underfunding and only recent technological upgrades from 2000's-era software (which have helped, but aren't complete and won't be complete for a few more years).
I'm not saying more bodies always equals greater efficiency. I'm saying that when your phone rings for 8 hours straight, perhaps it would be a good idea to hire a receptionist. When Black Friday rolls around, Wal-Mart brings all hands on deck. When April 15 is near, accounting firms don't allow for vacation. When attorneys in large law firms have upcoming deadlines in large, profitable cases, additional human resources are assigned to help meet that deadline.
The IRS is currently the equivalent of Sheriff Andy Taylor being transferred out of Mayberry and into the Big City, and told the only deputy he can have to police the entire area is Barney Fife. Or, to put it more contemporaneously, it's a big universe, and Captain Marvel is only one person. At this point, adding more people would be the most efficient thing they could do.

Pretty sure 11:54 doesn’t need the recommendations of 12:28, as that was my first thought of the identity of the perpetrator of unprofessionalism.

Last week several people recommended Christian Gabroy
Andre Lagomarsino is good as is Christian Gabroy. Any attorney that handles these cases takes them on contingency, so it won’t cost you anything.
I recommend Trevor Hatfield. Also check out 17CR006453.

@1:59, are you a woman?

The liability is you can’t sleep with staff. Pretty basic employment law. It is not criminal, but juries award money all the time.

3 fights with cancer is no joke. Fuck cancer.
OMG,awful. Awful day
Not to mention the FBI raid on Trump's home.

9:10 must be a government worker. Only they themselves think adding more bodies makes the government work more efficiently. Classic idiocy.
Yeah more employees never help. That is why every well run business only has 3 employees.
The government isn't a business. It has zero incentive to generate efficiency. It has every incentive to run inefficiently.
9:10 here.

What do you mean by this? Genuinely curious
