There’s No Place Like Quarantine At Home For The Holidays

  • Law

Happy Happy holidays everyone! We hope you all have something fun planned with family and/or socially-distanced friends for these last weeks of 2020. For those of you at work, pretending to work, stop, go home and spend some time with your loved ones. For those of you at home, pretending to work from home, stop, turn the computer off and relax a bit. You earned it!

If any of you are not feeling so jolly or struggling right now, please don’t hesitate to ask for help.  If any of you are not struggling right now, consider reaching out to those people in your life who might be. A quick message or phone call goes a long way.

Confidential help from a fellow lawyer is a phone call away
Toll Free: 866-828-0022
Any lawyer in need of confidential assistance with alcohol, drug, gambling problems, depression and stress: help is a phone call away. The LCL hotline will put you in touch with a peer who understands the issues of lawyers today. When you call, all you have to leave is your first name and telephone number, and someone with experience and who understands will call you back.  You will be listened to with understanding and support by someone who will give you resources you may not know exist out there. One new benefit of this program is three free therapist sessions for support during stressful events. More details at the link above.

Merry Christmas, you interesting bunch of assholes.

Nevada has a good legal community. We have our share of nuts, but in the main, I'm proud to share a virtual courtroom with you.

One last State Bar note. If you dont think the State Bar takes cooperating with it as more important than actually not stealing money, consider this. Antony Santos was accused of accepting $5000 in fees for legal services and not
providing those services. "Considering that less than $5,000 was misappropriated
here; this matter involved a single instance affecting one client, who
apparently was Santos only client at the time; the absence of any prior
discipline; and that Santos may be struggling with an illness…"

So $5000 taken would think 6 months right based upon the attorneys who have lost hundreds of thousands of dollars and gotten that sanction right? No no because Santos did not respond to the OBC's Complaint, he got 5 years and 1 day. Once again cooperation with the OBC is much more serious than stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars. (Case 81919).

Jesus is weeping over the sad sack of shit this legal community is. Pandemic brings out the worst in people.
