Now that Fiore is in the legal community, we should see more about her here. Hell, there could be a separate blog just about her!

We *hope* she stays in the legal community. I have faith that the MAGA folks on the Nye County Commission will stick with her, unmet residency requirements withstanding. She's a "second amendment person," after all, and that's what really matters. I challenge anyone to name a better fit than Nye County and Michelle Fiore. This was foreordained from the foundations of the world.

They'll just need to invalidate the prior appointment, issue a new notice, reset the filing dates and deadlines for the new JP appointment, and now that she's been in Nye County for more than 30 days, she'll be good and they can appoint her.

Ah, Nye County. The place where you can straight-up lie to the appointing authority, and as long as you have the right views on the Second Amendment, they won't care.

Meanwhile, she made false statements of material fact to a public body, which body relied on her statements in appointing her to a public office. In most contexts, that'd be a crime–intrusion upon a public office (NRS 197.120). Her failing to timely resign from the city council would be a similar crime, failing to relinquish her office once she ceased to have the qualifications. Her troubles shouldn't be over, but they probably will be. Nye County commissioners won't care, and they'll do what they can to fix the paperwork after the fact, as 4:57 suggests.

The only thing I will say is that lying to a public body is probably grounds for a judicial ethics complaint as an endrun around Nye County be Nye County-ing.

5:54 & 6:35 PM.

You two are no fun, a couple of wet blankets. A pox upon whomever files a judicial ethics complaint. Just let us have this reincarnation of Halverson, ok?

@7:50 I think you're missing an opportunity here. Imagine the insanity (and entertainment value) of Chattah representing Fiore in front of Dehle and Co! Pure comedic gold!

Ganging up on a Jewish American Woman. I will hazard a guess that you are all cis-men. Of course. Long live the racist-cis-patriarchy!

9:07 — "Ganging up on a 'Jewish American Woman'"? Oh, puhleese . . . Her obnoxiousness has nothing to do with her being Jewish. . . . Or are you saying it does? Who's ganging up on whom?

Only cis-men patriarchs would characterize Michele Fiore and Chattah as wackos! Hard to argue with that!

“However, she noted that serving in a county prosecutor’s office and serving in the Legislature would violate the incompatibility provision because prosecutors bring ‘charges on behalf of the State against those who have allegedly violated the laws of the State and the Legislature enacts such laws.’”

So glad she made this a part of her ruling. Cannizzaro and Scheible were pretty blatantly still acting like prosecutors while up at the legislature serving as senators. Shame on the democrats for allowing it to go on for as long as they did and for still supporting/celebrating those two. They spent years putting people in prison for breaking the law while they themselves were breaking the law.

And before people start in on me…I’m a democrat myself. But I believe both parties need to hold their bad actors accountable.
