St. Patrick’s Day Madness

  • Law

It St. Patrick’s Day and the beginning of March Madness–i.e. one of the least productive days of the year. Are you working and watching? Who do you predict will be the Cinderella team this year?

Is anyone keeping track of who is running for one for non-judicial elected offices this year?  The deadline to file is tomorrow.  You can view who has filed here.

The amount of candidates in Congressional District 3 is insane. And they are all major parties. Hope springs eternal. With the choices we have for presidential candidates, I predict turnout will be very, very low.

The Barry Michaels joke is running again. He's good at press but we know he won't win, so he's only going for name recognition. http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/ex-felon-running-for-us-congress-in-nevada-300140141.html

Is Jesse Walsh the stupidest or most corrupt (or both) district court judge? http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/nevada/nevada-high-court-vacates-5-million-judgment-fender-bender-case

Lo and behold, Eglet's firm was the plaintiff's attorney. That firm seems to do well in Judge Walsh's department.

The Nevada Supreme Court needs to set up a special Jessie Walsh department to handle the massive number of her reversible errors. I do not know whether Walsh merely lacks critical reasoning skills or is motivated by some element of corruption (or both), but there is certainly a troubling pattern of facially stupid rulings coming out of her department, followed by an over broad and overly aggressive application of the orders in limine to essentially silence the defense from offering any evidence at all. This is far from the first time Walsh has gotten in hot water for the same things. Worst judge on the bench, and it is not even close. On the bright side, her errors assure that appellate attorneys and trial attorneys having to litigate re-trials will continue to be able to put food on the table.

Why are you insurance defense guys so angry all the time? It's a ten year old case, clearly she messed up, and Eglet will have to retry the case. She's not a bad crim judge at all and if you guys have ONE judge who is pro plaintiff, suck it up and deal with it cause she's not going anywhere.

It's amazing that he hired someone to perform SEO optimization, and got a spammer instead.

What's even funnier is that this type of stuff actually HURTS your position with Google, etc. Google is a little more sophisticated than John, above, and can sniff this stuff out immediately. There's really only one way to increase your Google ranking – provide useful, accessible, high quality content that people want to see (most lawyers don't really understand this).
