You don’t need to be a lawyer to be a U.S. Supreme Court justice. For the Nevada Supreme Court, you must have been the member of *a* bar association for at least 15 years and of the Nevada Bar for at least 2 years.

I represented Smith & Wesson once. What is clear is that guns are not designed for hitting people in the head.

Family court update: The family law bar is now filing all custody cases as paternity cases and are arguing that P cases are not covered by the Falconi writ. Maybe they don’t understand when the supreme court said “family court” it meant the entire family court? RM is signing off on that argument and impermissibly closing P cases to members of the public. It will be fun to see her get sued by ONJ. The family law bar in the north is having semi-secret gatherings to strategize and try to overcome the supreme court’s direction and a certain family law attorney in the south is telling everyone they’re going to get the Falconi writs overturned. I guess the family law brain trust thinks it’s normal for the supreme court to overturn their own opinion. More to come. Watch this space!
So is the bar going to warn SCOTUS of their duty of competence when it comes to technology?
(Side question – does a justice have to be a member of a bar to sit on the Supreme Court?
