Nelson is outstanding! I have had many experiences with him and he's always been very professional and timely. Have never had a concern about the accuracy of his work (never had the witness and this interpreter conduct an extended discussion only to get an answer like "no").

Re the story "The Supreme Court of Nevada ruled that Metro must release bodycam video…." Is this a written opinion, and if so, where can I find it?
Another day in which it would be faster for me to leave my office, drive down 7 miles to the RJC, go through security, walk up to the 3rd floor, hand-deliver a filing to one of the three clerks, wait while they walk the newest clerk through the training steps, correct the mistake, get the filing done correctly, walk to the Courthouse Grill, remember they're closed, walk to Triple George, have lunch, walk back to my car, drive back to my office and type this out, than it would to have one of the e-filing reviewers actually accept a very simple filing. Seriously. What the hell?

The BLOG needs a thread about the Odyssey E-Filing and problems. The Judges and the Court Administration believe it is running flawlessly. They don't have to e-file. BLOG ADMINISTRATOR–Please create a thread on this important day to practice issue.
I'm fine with it being rejected in a timely manner. I'm not fine with it being 24 hours later on a time-sensitive Petition and the damn filing has just vanished into the ether after Odyssey confirmed the receipt of the submission. Give me my damn file stamp.
@10:01; Make sure to retain those receipts until you receive the file stamped copy back. At a minimum, it helps establish that the filing was submitted in a timely manner.
Admittedly, I stopped needing to utilize the wiznet system prior to it's current iteration so don't know if the system has changed since I used it, but if it doesn't currently do it, the system should automatically affix a received stamp to your submission and immediately return a copy of that if full (not just the first page). That way, if a SNAFU occurs, you can prove both the time that the document was submitted, but also exactly what was contained within the document.
The new "Smart Search" system at the new portal is leaps and bounds worse than the old system. The layout is much too large, the system is much slower–basically it's all garbage.
As but one example, on the old system a docket that runs 12 printed pages is now 60 pages on the new system. No improvement there.
I am a big fan of the fact that documents download in a .tif file– you know because I send pleadings around in .tif file format because it is so user friendly. So much better than Wiznet which did documents in .pdf. Is this the 1970's?
From above I have more respect for Court of Appeal decision than for Nevada Supreme Court judges.
Groot, is that you?
Groot, could you get around to applying the law?
Do you guys have any preferences/recommendations for Spanish-English interpreters for depositions?

Nelson Mackenna
Richard Evans
Mike Stoklasa
I second Nelson Mackenna. He does the translation simultaneously, saving a lot of time, and is excellent.
^^^Agreed!

I'm a big fan of the way you can't view past the first page of a document unless you download it. Yep. Big fan.
