https://www.lacsnprobono.org/volunteer-of-the-month/homa-woodrum-and-adam-woodrum/

During the guardianship scandal, Homa and Adam did a lot of admirable work. I know they moved to Carson City when Homa got a job with the state. Are they still married? It looks like she is using her maiden name now.

Anyway, very sad to see this.

I went to Boyd with Homa. Very, very nice person. Lot of class, humbleness and integrity. I hate to see anything like this around her. Hang in there Homa.

Yes, the ABA is a well-known subversive organization. I think they even have a picture of Lenin hanging in the basement.

Look, the ABA is deserving of criticism, but MAGA constantly shitting on important institutions is getting old. The post office, the ABA, public schools, PBS, USAID. I’m a small government guy, but you proto-fascists are forcing me to argue why government bureaucracies and other institutions (like the ABA) are useful and necessary.

100%

These are the guys complaining about government censorship, the ‘free speech absolutists’ – but they’re banning speech.

You’re a small government guy, and we can debate that vs. bigger government (and we should!). But these guys aren’t for small government, they’re for essentially no government.

9:59 here. Oh, they are definitely for government. A government that tells us what we can and can’t say, what our kids can and can’t read in the schools, who we can and can’t marry.

Fuck these fascists.

And a warning to everyone. Right now, they are going after trans people and immigrants. But the problem is they have an insatiable appetite for a villain. You and your demographics may be safe today, but they will need new scape goats and targets tomorrow. And it very well could be you.

USAID is an important institution? Based on what?

Was looking through the Rules of Professional Conduct and was surprised at how strict 7.3 is, especially compared to the model rule. I get the reasoning when it comes to individuals, but it seems strange when dealing with companies/governments that have in-house counsel to manage legal services. What do you all think of this rule? Does it impact how you try to generate business?

It’s not strictly enforced. There is an attorney in town, who has served for many years on the Board of Governors, who sends out unsolicited letters to defendants in recently filed district court cases. I’ve had clients show me these letters.

I am very busy. I don’t have time, or the need, to send out letters like that. If you are a good lawyer, you should be full up from referrals.

Steve Wynn has apparently learned nothing. He has the audacity to see himself as the victim in all of this. Instead of introspection, accountability and change, he wants to impede the ability of the rest of us to publicly report on, and criticize steamy piles of excrement like himself.

Seriously fuck this guy.

While I can still say it, I’ll let it rip—

Steve Wynn, along with Ted Cruz, is the Zodiac Killer.
Steve Wynn is D.B. Cooper, and he used all the money on hookers and blow.
Steve Wynn was the second gunman on the grassy knoll.
It was Steve Wynn, not Steve Bartman, who fucked the Cubs on October 14, 2023.
Steve Wynn pees sitting down.
Steve Wynn is the head of the Bilderberg Group, the Danites and La Cosa Nostra.
Steve Wynn shot Tupac at Flamingo and Las Vegas Blvd. on September 7, 1996, at 11:15 p.m.
Steve Wynn, with the help of Nicky Santoro, personally buried Jimmy Hoffa in a hole in the desert at Jean Lake.
Steve Wynn framed Lizzie Borden.
Steve Wynn eats pizza with a fork.

OK, you got me there, but can we agree that framing Lizzie Borden is a bad vibe?

Jimmy Hoffa was buried in 1975 in vacant land, which is now a parking lot in one of the public schools in Newark, New Jersey. He was not buried in Jean Lake.

I find it interesting, as a lawyer, that the Quinn take on what Tony Hsieh’s dad is doing through litigation of the estate (they are not wrong) makes the news but nobody has written , or commented here, about the fact that all claims against Puoy Premsrirut were dismissed with prejudice. The orders in the case dismissing the attorney really go to show that Tony’s dad was trying to create new ethical obligations that do not actually exist to hook the attorney for liability
