I get a bit teary eyed reading about heroic attorneys like Mr. Gao. How many US attorneys could rise to the challenges he did?

Ditto…I think attorneys in the US forget that in other countries, attorneys are heroes who sacrifice so much, often their lives, to gain freedoms or legal rights for the citizens of their countries. The number of attorneys killed or jailed in Russia, China, and other parts of the world just trying to secure basic rights for citizens is staggering and shameful in this day and age.

So UNLV has a remedial program for the bar exam. Actually, if Nevada's Bar was one of the toughest the pass rate would be consistent with California at right under 50 per cent.

The Nevada Bar is not an easy exam, although it shocks the system to see who passes the first time, some of the dumbest lawyers around.

Lots of schools have ASPs. Take the University of Utah, for one.

I wholeheartedly agree. Some law school programs did not have academic/bar exam programs available, so I think that would greatly assist someone in passing bar on first try.

No bar is a walk in the park. I just don't think the bar is an impediment like it used to be. There are not as many chronic repeaters. It was graded easier so UNLV could look good. Just think what an advantage their graduates have with their own prep program. Everyone else has to rely on the bar prep class.

There was the article with the ABA president who said the overall IQ of newer lawyers is significantly lower than older attorneys.

You guys had to walk 10 miles uphill in the snow barefoot to get to your law school, right? Get over yourselves already. I find that a lot of the older non-Boyd attorneys are nowhere near as sharp as the newer ones coming out of Boyd. The Class of '13, in particular, was stacked with talent. If you find yourself up against someone from that class, you're likely going to get your ass kicked.

Yeah, class of 2013 is really setting the world on fire, like who? Please identify who from that class is setting the world on fire. How many people sat for your bar, 200-300?

Sniff, sniff. Oh, yes, I do smell something. It smells like bull feces. But more than that, it smells old and calcified. It reeks of someone who is unable to keep up with his younger, smarter, and more energetic competition. The fumes are putrid with the resentment of those whose time has come and gone.

2:31 I'm a Boyd grad and making statements like that, you are am embarrassment to Boyd. No one licensed for less than 2 years is setting he world on fire. And does anyone really dispute that law schools in general, Boyd included, have lowered standards in an attempt to keep admissions up?

Uh, Boyd's admissions are significantly down and the school is running a deficit, ostensibly because admission standards have NOT been lowered.

Boyd is running a deficit because it is a state sponsored white elephant. There were too many lawyers when they created Boyd and now there are way too many. The State's needs were being met with attorneys who moved here or went out of state to law school. The school has a bloated bureaucracy and too many professors. What happened to all those grants and pledges that were supposed to pay for everything. A community of two million that is blue collar can not support such an institution.

But were there enough competent lawyers?
And Boyd is the state's law school, and the state's population is 2.8 million. But, hey, you were only off by 40 percent.
As for your turf protection, see the comment above re: your lawn.

2:05 p.m.. The population of Clark County is about 2 million. Most of Boyd students are from
Clark County. I wonder how many Northern Nevadans attend Boyd and then go back there to practice. Boyd is predominantly a local Las Vegas Law School. As many folks take the bar in Nevada as they do in Arizona and Arizona has more than double the population.
