Remember a few months ago when someone asked what was going on at Bremer Whyte? Well, someone has now pointed out that In re: Discipline of Nelson Cohen is available on the Supreme Court website. Allegedly, on 52 separate occasions, Cohen fabricated and submitted false reimbursement requests after changing the firm policy and making arrangements with an insurer to waive the requirement for receipts on any reimbursement under $500. Between April 2011 and April 2016, he collected an estimated $214,345. Cohen has been temporarily suspended from the practice of law during the disciplinary hearing process.
Here’s that article on Judge William Potter facing ethics charges. [RJ]
AB 376 addresses discovery in criminal cases and could fundamentally alter how prosecutors have to deal with their cases. [RJ]
Today is municipal election day. Did you vote? Any bold predictions? [TNI]
To be fair, Michancy Moonblossom Cramer and David Mann are both very difficult to deal with. (ps. I don't condone handcuffing attorneys, just leave the bench and take a break if you have to).
Mann retains anything with cash. Right, wrong, Rule 11, doesn't matter to him. If it pays, he'll represent. Have you seen his fee flow chart? The man is a menace and danger to all of us. Rarely, if ever, prepared.
I worked on two cases that Mr. Mann previously screwed up. One so badly that his former client was almost held in contempt of court.

That works out to about $3500 per month in pilferage. If you're going to steal, at least take $13 million or something. At that rate though, he probably figured nobody would notice. But all it takes with these carriers is a new bean-counter at the top who decides to start auditing people.
Peter brown did turn him in and although snitches get stitches, he did the right thing. Attorneys should be held to a higher standard as well as politicians. Obviously that does not happen, but this is a good start. Go get'em Stan.
The fact that the system failed with Randolph Goldberg does not mean it should continue to fail will all that follow. Goldberg should have been disbarred (the fact he wasn't is an embarrassment, not something to be celebrated). If the allegations against Cohen are proven to be true, he also should be disbarred… Of course he may have bigger problems to worry about than a simple disbarment proceeding.
The system failed with Goldberg but not in the manner in which you think. Goldberg's offenses over the past 20 years would have been a 2 year suspension. In fact, the OBC originally did a 2 year suspension; the Nevada Supreme Court rejected it but found that a suspension was appropriate. The comparable criminal offense to which Goldberg pled guilty resulted in a 1 year suspension for Larry Semenza. Tax evasion is not a disbarment offense under the ABA Standards. So if the OBC was going to do a suspension, 4 years 9 months was about as long as it could be. You can say Goldberg is a creep, but that also is not a basis for disbarment.
No the system failed in the Goldberg case because Goldberg pled in March 2013. It cannot take 4 years for a Discipline matter to wind its way through the system.
I have had the agony of knowing Mr. Goldberg for the past ten years or so, and I couldn't possibly imagine him being any more pretentious, egotistical, and completely out of control as he is right now. And I thought prison was supposed to be a punishment meant to humble the proud and greedy such as Mr. Goldberg. Nothing could be farther from the truth. He parties with hookers, drinks, does drugs, jet sets across the country more often than most reporting felons fill out a monthly report sheet, and still makes extravagant purchases that would make your head spin. It's as though he's teaching young America that it pays to break the law. Shame on the Federal Probation system and on the Federal Courts who prosecuted him. Mr. Goldberg is someone who needs close monitoring, and by not doing so, you've created a monster!!!
Let me add a few more things that Mr Goldberg also does besides the drugs and hookers ,he beats his girlfriend up, example December 30 2017 in LAX airport ,as he was witnessed by TWA staff punching his girlfriend in the head ,took her boarding pass and got on the plan without her. The embarrassed girlfriend went up to staff to exsplain something that they all witnessed, to shorten up the stories, they arrested him there and even though that it was on the cameras he got a three month house arrest while finishing his parole, his girlfriend who loved him so didn't press charges and was not aware that the courts were looking for her to testifie at his hearing, .just goes to show you money can but you freedom and keep him unbarred,, I have some more recent stuff on Mr Goldberg that I will be happy to share if he doesn't stop beating his now exgirl friend and harassing her.
It wasn't LAX. TWA has been out of business for years. He did not get house arrest; he was supervised monitoring while they investigated. Ultimately the charges were dropped in California for lack of evidence. Ultimately Judge Navarro found no evidence to find a probation violation (other than leaving the jurisdiction without permission) and lifted the conditions. Money did not buy him anything. Randy is off Supervised Release and has moved on with his life as of beginning of May. Maybe you should do the same.
Me too. I can't find a thing. I've been reading The Nevada Independent and then local tv news channel websites for smaller stories. The LVRJ isn't worth the hassle.
That's how I voted, 11:33. Not sure about the other five people who were at the polling place this morning. As a general rule, I don't vote against an incumbent judge unless I've had a personal bad experience or there is good reason to kick them out. Not the case here, although the challengers seem to be reasonably qualified.

Jacob Hafter is arguing on behalf of medical pot before the Nevada Supreme Court. It's well worth viewing.
The sleeve does nothing for me. But to each their own.

I used to work for David Mann, kinda scatter brained, sometimes jerk, mostly ok – but did that guy make money – kinda flashy with cars, bling, flew his way-too-young wife to Paris one time to buy red bottoms at Christian Louboutin – really didnt pay attn to his employees – n there about 15 of us at tge time n he didnt even know my name for about a month
The same David Mann that creeped on the much younger law students at Boyd ~2004/2005? That did a bankruptcy around the time he graduated law school (06-11153-bam)? That one?
Think about how many people you could say that about however. Didn't seem that smart. Wasn't a dawn to moonlight, busting their hump worker, but just has been in the right place at the right time. But I will also say that the flashy cars, flying your wife to Paris thing doesn't mean you have "money." It means you have made just enough for one pair of Louboutins and flight to Paris and to lease your flashy car.

Barry Breslow appointed to the Washoe County Bench. Surprised it wasn't Ayers but when was the last time a Commissioner down here got elevated to a Judicial position?
To be fair, Michancy Moonblossom Cramer and David Mann are both very difficult to deal with. (ps. I don't condone handcuffing attorneys, just leave the bench and take a break if you have to).
I agree 100% with this comment. Michancy is a little hottie but hard to deal with. Mann is a toad.
Michancy is a hottie so long as you have a paper bag in the car with you.
She is not anywhere near hot, even if you just did at ten year stint in the State pen.
WTF is up with that name – Michancy Moonblossom Cramer? Parents do shrooms much?
Mann retains anything with cash. Right, wrong, Rule 11, doesn't matter to him. If it pays, he'll represent. Have you seen his fee flow chart? The man is a menace and danger to all of us. Rarely, if ever, prepared.
I was once told by Mann's staff that if I wanted to talk to him I needed to file an OST. Yes, I've seen the fee chart. Insane.
Boyd '07 has been a gift that keeps on giving.
Can somebody describe this fee flow chart?
I'll try to screenshot it, essentially you have to pay according to how fast you want him to respond.

GO GET EM? I am just reading about Randolph Goldberg NOT being disbarred despite many ethics violations and a felony conviction.

I hate the new RJ layout.

I'm predicting Kerns by over 50%.
I'm hoping for this result, and hoping Heidi Almase wins too!
I'm voting against both!
11:33- I concur

Bow ties are hot.
Corinne Price arguing before SC. She is hot.
Corinne is hot. But not Danielle Tarmu hot.

Are you talking about the David Mann who was at Boyd around 2007?
The same David Mann that creeped on the much younger law students at Boyd ~2004/2005? That did a bankruptcy around the time he graduated law school (06-11153-bam)? That one?
Wow, I didn't think he was bright or ambitious enough to make a bunch of money. Noy just trying to an ass, but that the honest truth.
Think about how many people you could say that about however. Didn't seem that smart. Wasn't a dawn to moonlight, busting their hump worker, but just has been in the right place at the right time. Ayers is extremely qualified. Would have been a great judge. Hopefully next time!
