Why putting things behind a CAPTCHA validator sucks: you gotta make sure the CAPTCHA is functioning. Is anyone else running into validation errors with the Nevada Supreme Court's website today?

Boy I hate to say this. But other than Wesley Yamashita, I do not think I have ever seen a person have a larger swing from really pleasant amiable attorney to nasty jerk on the bench more than Kishner. She is smart and gets it right a great deal. But man has she unnecessarily become nasty.

Conversely Gloria Sturman is a much nicer human being on the bench than she was as an attorney.

Coffing is status quo BOG. He may end up being a good judge, but he is not a shoo in.

Blair has some good connections among his partners and otherwise. There is also the mormon vote to consider. He could give Coffing a run for his money.

you may be right 11:27, but there are a couple of other Depts. with some very unknown candidates. I think he might do better there because Coffing will be very well-funded I'm sure.

Coffing cannot run a law firm, and he is responsible for Hoggee. Ah, you no get a vote-o, hole.

Not to 21. That is one the few races that actually has a competent candidate in it. Tara Clark Newberry would make an excellent judge. She will have my vote!

I see that the entire PD's office is running. In general I'm ok with that, except to the extent someone is running against a judge I like (e.g. Bare). Is this motivated more by frustration with particular judges, or at the DA's office in general? Also, how are they all getting the money to hire Letizia?

There's a group called Emerge that has encouraged women and minorities from the P.D. office to run. And their effort appears to have worked.

Now it's getting interesting. Erv Nelson filed against Herndon and Fumo. No one filed against Bulla yet.

Dept 1 is down to Bruce Gale and Bita Yeager. Kind of a vacuum if you ask me.

Aw, but it's not that easy. Bita Yeager is married to state assemblyman and has name recognition and connection. She will have money to spend and will be tough to beat despite the "marie" thing.

I am still baffled by the attorney running against Jones, didn't he get 85% in Judging the Judges and the only time he is mentioned on this blog he is suppose to be "good" or "one of the best" judges.

These races are turning into a cluster_ _ _ _, the majority of these people running are jokes. You think we were the butt of attorneys all over the nation after Halverson and Walsh, you ain't seen nothing yet.

"Anna Albertson," who just filed against Villani, is Yianna Reizakis. Good Lord. I have to give all my money to Villani now, and I don't even like him all that much. In some of these races it's going to be a matter of knowing who is the evil of two lessers.

I don't know her well enough to comment on that, but that's quite a name difference. I would never have put 2 and 2 together even after seeing that her full first name was Yianna.

Her running shows you truly do not need qualifications to run. When she realized she could not hack it in family court (which she was running and hardly practices family law) she switched names and jumped to a different court.

She filed in Family Court under the same name. And like it or not, candidates that can run under (1) clearly female names and (2) higher in the alphabet do better in elections.

I know her and would say she's extremely qualified for both courts. She simply changed her mind and preferred civil/criminal court. Also, she got married, thus the name change. How is it evil to run under her married name? Anna is short for Yianna. If Michael ran under Mike, would he be evil too?

As a civil lawyer, it is concerning to me how many PD candidates and folks without trial experience are running

Many, if not most, of the PD candidates, like the DA candidates, have a lot more trial experience than most civil lawyers. They certainly have more courtroom time. There are more judges with a civil background than those with a background in criminal cases. On balance, we can use more judges with criminal law experience.
