Happy Juneteenth! It’s the first Juneteenth holiday where it is both a state and federal holiday in Nevada. Is your office closed today? What else is happening?

We are open but we give our staff off Monday, July 3rd so they were happy with that
I have not run into any closed offices today or anyone celebrating this. Just an observation.
The senate’s delay in processing the bill recognizing today as a holiday created a bit of chaos, which could have been easily avoided, but with all courts closed, our office is also closed. I’m happy to have this day to observe an important day in our country’s history.
All courts are closed, our hearings that were scheduled for today June 19th were bumped to later in the week or a few weeks out, so we judge decided to close today and give everyone the day off.
Maybe this is an important day for Galveston, but the County already has Emancipation Day, which is the day that slaves were freed.
The TTHHWWWAAACCKKs come out night. . . . . . .
After an formal disciplinary hearing, how long does the Panel have until sending the Findings to the Nevada Supreme Court? Any citation appreciated. Asking for a friend 🙂

Weird post considering you can google and read about the history of this holiday. Also weird to complain about a “race-based” holiday considering slavery is almost universally recognized as America’s original sin.
Ha! My delayed comment was responding to a post that got thwacked.
I would objectively suggest that the complaints were not about the "race-based" nature of the holiday, but the politicking, the questionable choice of dates and subtext in the implementation of the holiday.
I mean the significance of the receipt of the Emancipation Proclamation by the State of Texas is kind of weak.
Let me be clear, I am NOT opposed to a national holiday celebrating the end of slavery. I am opposed to the selection of dates and fact that it should have been done decades ago.
Holy Jesus on a Wheat Thin….. Justice Court of Las Vegas Township you are an absolute shitshow.
–I will not comment on a judge who stated that a party was not allowed to authenticate their own documents because only third parties can objectively authenticate documents.
–Upon appeal, the Court enters an Order for appellant to hire a court reporting firm to prepare a transcript of the trial but never serves that Order on any parties.
–Even though there is a pending notice of appeal, the Clerk's Office enters a notice on the record that the exhibits in the case can be picked up or will be destroyed. Once again that notice is not served on any of the parties or counsel.
In 2023, LVJC you are light years behind where you were 5 or 10 years ago.
I, too, was pretty effing great in 2017. (I'm thrusting my hips as I write this.)
Legendary.
I'm working today despite office being closed. YAWN on today's posts. OK, so best B-52s song – Rock Lobster? Whammy Kiss? Not the dreaded, commercial Roam?
Love Shack, obviously.
Nobody under 92 knows who or what the post titles reference.
Come on man. Enough with the hyperbole. Its 52.
