A few of you started a nice conversation in the comments yesterday about going in-house, so let’s keep the conversation going. Is in-house counsel really the place to be? Is is both lucrative and conducive to a good work-life balance? What does it take to get an in-house job? Is it who you know or what certifications you have? Is it feasible for a young insurance defense associate to plan an in-house move one day? What are the downsides of going in-house? What about government work–is that comparable to in-house? What kind of benefits should you expect in addition to salary?
