Best choice of the bunch?
Cerceo. Hands down. Zero question.
Agree
Concur
Also concur. With few exceptions, it seems the only attorneys that run for judge are those with failing practices or washed up government hacks. Cerceo is a pleasant surprise.
20+ year divorce lawyer here – I feel old – I personally know almost every person on that list (acquaintanceship, would say hello if ran into in the mall, etc.) – Cerceo for sure – Although I will keep the contents confidential, I once was with him in the ante-room outside the Courtroom – and he gave me a profound, insightful thought that I still remember
Also a 20+ family lawyer here.
Cerceo was a huge mentor to me in the early 2000's, early in my solo practice. Had he run, I certainly would have given the max to his campaign. His advice and counseling has made me exponentially more money than that.
12:40, 12:32 again – it is kind of sad that in our area of law – some simple kindnesses, thoughts, and civility mean so much to us – by contrast it kind of shows what we usually get – I hope to be a better person and try harder to be what I know I can be
I met Bob when he worked for a family lawyer who is a great lawyer but far less congenial. He is the exception to the rule that attorneys end up like their bosses.
I know who it is of whom you speak. I recall that Bob was much easier to work with, even 20 years ago.
May God watch over the Tintor family.
Greg Gordon would also make a great family court judge.

Wait until you guys hear about what happens to bodies after we bury them
The State got tired of the preliminary hearing continuances and finally indicted Doug Crawford.
Like any reputable boulevardier, Doug will mark the occasion by indulging in some "fine dining" this evening at Flemings.
By himself as he astutely but continuoisly notes on Facebook.
Cool. Now do Ruggs.
I would have shot the dog without a moment's hesitation. (Or is it a "a moments hesitation"?)
"a moment of hesitation"
Not enough facts in the story to be able to make a determination regarding the reasonableness of the circumstances. Story claims dog was on his own property at first and then was in the street. Were the dogs biting each other? Barking? Growling? Not enough facts (sort of like the Henderson shooting by the son in his father's house last week). I concur with the neighbor questioning who settles dogs barking at each other by shooting a dog. And who jogs with a loaded handgun in his shorts? There is a right to bear arms but there are no facts in either version of the story that justified shooting the dog.
I assure you my fanny pack does not contain gum and lipstick.
If you shoot my dog, isn't shooting you a justifiable defense of others? At least that would be my thought as I reached into my fanny pack.
If I am standing next to and trying to hold my dog and you are holding your dog and you pull a gun, yeah I am going to think you are pulling a gun on me. It is extremely reckless to shoot anything or anybody in that close of proximity to another person.
Cerceo, Gordan, White in that order. Ganz is a solid no and also wtf does he think he’s doing in family court?
He is trying to pull a Ken Pollock, getting appointed to the Bench somewhere and then make the leap to District Court
With all the negative comments about family court, would it really be so bad to get a new judge that isn't currnently involved in family court? Assuming the new judge is smart and willing to put in the work to learn family law, couldn't it be a good thing? I practice mostly civil litgation and I have been pleasantly surprised with several judges with no prior civil experience.
Adam is bright and hard working. He would be fine. But who would want to sit there and listen to a bunch of deranged psychos bitch and moan all day long.
Don’t ever get married and you won’t have to deal with any of the nonsense down there.
Death with dignity should already be a thing in Nevada. Change my mind.
Likely no post will change your mind. But your statement suggests that suicide is or can be dignified. Suicide, even for the infirm, is never dignified and indeed is an affront to human dignity as it disregards the value of human life. We should be protecting the most vulnerable, not discarding them.
@712,
Have you witnessed a loved one experience a prolonged, excruciating death? I mean, you actually saw it happen, moment to moment, day to day. You were there. Not merely that your Aunt Bessie took a few weeks to die of cancer. That you had a front row seat. Because I have, and it is horrific. For people like me, this is not an academic debate about an "affront to human dignity". What is an "affront to human dignity" is what I saw.
8:08 AM again. Keep in mind that as your loved one convulses, explodes bodily fluid in unanticipated ways and screams out in agony, that the medical professionals around him/her will be so jaded they really won't give a shit. We wouldn't want to release someone from that situation, right? We want to make them live in agony for weeks or months, with zero chance of improvement, much less survival- because releasing them to escape this torment is an "affront to human dignity." Get the fuck out. If you want to die this way, that is your right, but fuck you for saying that others MUST die this way.

Speaking of family court judges, whatever happened to Steven Jones? Affair with DA who appeared before him, disbarred for some investment fraud scheme. I heard he was working at Hoffland & Tomsheck as a pseudo attorney at one point. Anyone have the scoop? Sad situation, I always loved appearing before him.
I have the third floor of Hofland Tomsheck building. Been there at least six years, Steve has been there the entire time. He’s a paralegal but he’s smart as shit and he’s always been good to me. Don’t remember what happened but I don’t think he minds where he’s at.
To be fair Steve is working as a law clerk. Not a pseudo attorney. He adheres to what he can and cannot do. But think about being able to have a resource in your office who was a Family Court judge for 22 years, does not have any of the ongoing personal issues that were prevalent in the Doug Crawford case, is knowledgeable and polite. At a law clerk salary. I do not excuse or justify any of the financial crap that he was accused (I think convicted of). But yeah if I wanted to have a family law practice he would be a good resource to have.
Zero chance that Jones is making a "law clerk salary". And as far as I am concerned, Jones and Hofland deserve each other. Two peas in a pod.
Zero chance? And you base that upon what? Rank speculation? Just because you hate them both that it must be true? I know both of them. I like one of them (Steve). I can tell you that your hypothesis is false.
Does he receive money from PERS?
920 here
First of all, a "law clerk" with Jones' experience would command a top level paralegal salary, at worst, low 6 figures, at least.
And I like Steve too. Know him personally. Not close friends well, but first name basis for sure. If I called him today, he would answer the call.
And how did you deduce that I hate them both? I didn't say that. Isn't is just as likely that two very likable people deserve each other and are two peas in a pod?
Your gullibility is your weakness.
There is no gulliability. Perhaps the nomenclature is where is the difference lies. Our firm pays our law clerks (JDs that are not licensed in Nevada) more than any top level paralegal because their billable rate can be justified at a higher level. You have made your antipathy towards Steve well known in your post. It speaks for itself
What part of "I like Steve too" demonstrates antipathy? I am not responsible for your assumptions.
Steve obviously made mistakes. He’s also paid for his mistakes. I’m glad he is ok and productive and not hurting other people and I’m glad we didn’t end up with yet another loss to our community. This is an ugly profession and it seems to be getting uglier and uglier. He lost his license and a whole lot more. It was years ago. Move on.
I have totally moved on and I totally agree with you.
Steve is not the only one that paid the price for his mistakes, nor was he alone while he was "gone".
Nothing like totally moving on by saying how much you have not moved on about paying the price for the mistakes.
Seems to me that 11:14 was acknowledging that he / she had actually moved on and empathized with Steve, by recognizing that Steve was not alone.
Weird. . . .
Did he serve time in prison? Or was he sentenced to working at Hofland and Tomsheck? I can’t think of a worse punishment than that.
Hmmm two interpretations of "Steve is not the only one that paid the price for his mistakes": (1) Others have also personally paid the price for their respective mistakes; (2) Other people have had to pay a price for Steve's mistakes.
Ambiguity is a beautiful thing.
