This puff piece just shows at least in Michael Becker's case that we all certainly can pay for excellent ratings. Just do a good job, represent clients well, and you will get the word of mouth good clients. Can I get an AMEN as to this issue? Anyone? Even a Boyd 2013 graduate would suffice!!!!
Their always eating steak and drinking fine wine @ EP. Would be interesting to know if all these big jury awards really influence larger settlements for their clients or if these huge jury awards just put a bigger target on EP for every defense firm to finally beat them in court?
11:04 at 12:26 , You are correct in that I am Insurance Defense Counsel however, I am far from dissatisfied. I've been married for 31 years, I have 3 beautiful children , 2 healthy grandchildren, I'm not addicted to alcohol or drugs and I'm probably still not going to heaven either. Just like the recent Eglet jury award …hardly newsworthy!
@ 11:12 Eglet & Prince are the hunters not the hunted. Any case that Robert and Dennis are involved in is multi-million jury award period! The only target being put anywhere is on the defendants wallet.

IMO – Eglet's firm gets large verdicts because they are amazing at convincing a jury that the negligent defendant (i.e., someone who just made a mistake while driving) is a POS and the worst human being in the world and so deserves to be punished. And that is compounded by the fact that judges in this town let juries get away will awarding punitive damages as compensatory damages.
Indeed the jury pools in Clark County are well known to be pro injured plaintiff in personal injury lawsuits with a real bias in cases in which the plaintiff is poor and the defendant rich. Eglet exploits this bias especially in cases where the plaintiff (individual) is suing a corporate entity or corporate employee. The recipe has been perfected and one only needs to take a brief glimpse over on 7th Street to see the results!
@11:29 , Tracy hasn't been on the Trial Team at Eglet for years! Robert Eglet, Dennis Prince are 1st seaters with Rob Adams on 2nd seat. Best PI trial firm by far and it's really not even close as to what PI firm(s) would be considered second best.
11:41 true Tracy is strictly ADR for Eglet but surely these huge jury verdicts make her job that much easier. I'm sure she is the main rainmaker at Eglet because I can't imagine that many defendants with adequate counsel facing any real liability want to test the waters.
ID counsel here, 5th year non equity partner with larger well respected firm and substantial experience litigating vs. Eglet – I can confirm "special handling policy" of all Eglet cases from multiple insurance carriers and 20%-25% higher settlement resolution comps to recent JVR awards. I know that our firm wouldn't risk our multiple panels with an Eglet trial jury award verdict. We just make up the additional expenditures in settlements with Eglet with those cases involving solo PI attorneys. So, in essence Eglet has become the huge gorilla in Las Vegas so far as PI plaintiff firms go and the "little guys" client's are seeing lower settlement resolutions as a result. Sort of like Wal-Mart choking out all the independent small businesses except there is no "low price guarantee" at Eglet!
at 12:06 fellow ID counsel here. I hate all Eglet represented claims and their smug attitudes in trying to reach an amicable settlement with them. Our firm has no interest in going to trial either against Eglet. Sad, but true.
12:06 So true! Eglet has far more negotiation leverage at my office as well. I've seen several cases settle for much more than they should have… with the partners blessings to boot! Our office has the same business model to recoup the "eglet tax" on all the other claims.
Partners at my office politely refuse all defense work v. Eglet. And no this is not anyone affiliated with Eglet… except that I've crashed their Christmas party's the last three years!
You insurance defense guys are a bunch of losers, or sure aren't trial lawyers. Trial lawyers try cases because that's what they do. You don't have "Eglet Rules" any more than you have rules for anyone else. What a bunch of pikers.

I am all for Eglet and their high jury awards. It should at least makes Defense counsel more willing to settle or negotiate in good faith prior to trial in an effort to resolve the matter. Some defense counsel have their head so far up their ass it is almost impossible to try to come to a reasonable settlement. a jury award like along with Claggett's Lowes case for $16M should at least give a chilling effect on Defense hardball tactics
Defense will always hardball the attorney with no trial success , no finances to pay for trial litigation , an no balls to try a case! At 12:09- I'm in no way suggesting that this is you … however, that is the description of 90% of plaintiffs attorney's and their clients. As Trump says … We are a debtor nation.
As a guy that does primarily defense stuff, I can tell you that clients aren't always motivated by some risk times possible verdict formula. Often times the decision maker is some indignant executive that isn't used to being told what to do, is totally entrenched in his/her side's position, and maybe has developed a grudge against the plaintiff. Sometimes the "hey, juries have awarded $10m on this same claim" talk helps. Often it doesn't do shit.
12:54, And hopefully in the scenario you have described, plaintiff's counsel recognizes this fact and refers the case to Eglet to collect a nice fat referral at the same time as providing their client with a better settlement or jury award. No doubt that Eglet is hand fed most of their juicy cases by referral.
12:54 here: I should clarify that I don't do ID work either and I've never gone against a personal injury plaintiff. More like "business litigation" or whatever the fuck we're calling it. Insurance companies probably do have some sort of formula.

What a wealth of ID insight today! I can finally compete with Naqauevee's lame ads about "knowing how insurance companies think"
I think insurance companies are, for the most part, the scum of the earth, but I do feel bad for them on occasion. When they defense a case, all they get a fee and cost judgment against a "judgment proof" plaintiff. Whoopie.
I can tell you that I've laughed out loud at defense counsel in the past when they send a low OOJ and then suggest they'll get their attorney's fees against my client if we don't beat it. You mean my client who is currently living off the gubmint? Try collecting on that!

One would never take a case like this to trial without first offering to settle within limits, which if this guy (a doctor presumably with assets to protect) had an umbrella are probably 1.25m or something. If only 100/300, or even 250/500, then they are fucking idiots who deserve to get hit with every penny of the 6.6. Should have taken the deal.
They probably did offer to settle it within limits, but knowing there was a doctor on the other end, Prince probably wanted much more. And ended up getting it in the end.

Boyd 2014 grad here…AMEN lol
Anyone else having problems with the website for the Nevada Supreme Court? I had a tough time getting on yesterday and can't get on at all today.
Very slow to load but eventually got on – after about five minutes of watching the little thingamajig circling on my screen.
Just another JackPot jury award for another client at Eglet & Prince! Hardly newsworthy

"Their"? Boyd '13? I'd say larger settlement values
Another dissatisfied Insurance Defense Atty. @ 11:04.

Eglet is the Donald Trump of PI in Vegas. His verdicts are YUGE. Since switching from the Dark Side, he has made Plaintiffs Awards GREAT AGAIN.
So how did Eglet end up losing that huge Actos case last year? Wonder what those defense attorneys were able to do to beat him.

If that is what happened then the carrier will not be on the hook and this case will play out in BK. Dennis isn't that dumb.
Is Bob Adams still part of the EGLET trial team? I thought that he took his money and got the hell out of the Palace.
