There were ~79 adversary proceedings initiated within the past 3-4 days in the case consisting of transfer of cases from state court to the BK court. I hope Ryan got a really big fee for this case.
A&K's bankruptcy is a chapter 7 liquidation. Ryan's disclosure of compensation indicates he got just under $5K as a retainer. As a chapter 7 debtor's counsel for a business 7, you don't really need to do much other than schedules prep and get the 341 meeting concluded. The rest of the work falls ito the chapter 7 trustee and her counsel–in this case Shelley Krohn and Schwartzer McPherson as her counsel. All of the adversaries were removed from state court by the parties litigating the HOA association lien issues presumably because, well BK court will allow for quicker, cheaper resolutions. I'm just armchair quarterbacking it, but I think there may be some equitable remands of those removed cases going back to state court.

Knees together is the literal best sexy sex.
Anyway, everyone who has ever done any guardianship knows the buck stops at Norheim. It was free reign on old people bank accounts in his courtroom. No meaningful oversight for a decade. Not only is he not in trouble with the law, he's still employed by the county.
Agreed, need to go out level higher, then perhaps to a chief family judge. Other than that, it wasn't a "family court" problem because nobody in family court would touch it.
I don't care about the rest, in fact I think they're possibly a distraction to let Jared Shafer and Jon Norheim off the hook. As long as those two scumbags aren't rotting in prison, this entire county should hang it's collective head in shame.
Rumor has it that they investigated Lee Drizin but couldn't find anything would stick against him.
I do believe Shafer will be indicted. However, unlike Parks, his crimes are more nuanced IMO. Parks's crimes were open and obvious. And voluminous. She was incredibly sloppy in hiding her crimes. With Jared, his scams were far more elaborate and probably require more investigation. In one case I worked on, I noticed how Jared and his attorneys operated to make up a bogus controvery and then engage in a fishing expedition in order to rack up $100,000+ in attorneys fees and then would immediately call for a settlement when one might question the necessity of the amount of litigation.
I am surprised no one mentioned that another guardian was indicted the day after April Parks. Susan Rousselle – she was the guardian of Jason Hanson while he was a teenager. The guardianship was later transferred to Jared Shafer. Next stop. Shafer and Tyrell.
The attorneys did not fit into the "scheme" of the Parks et.al. crimes. Simpson and Parks were directly involved together in the bilking of the $25k insurance policy, which they then kept for themselves.
Don't believe they are finished yet. More potential work for the State Bar-if they have the whatever to pull someone's plug.

Nice job Nevada Supreme Court! 2 Unpublished Decisions out of the 7 of you in a week. I know, I know– you are too busy having to unpack your own boxes at the new digs and getting that fake ficus in just the right location.
@ 12:45 couldn't agree more. Ficus tree placement is quite challenging.

Do first year associates at Alverson Taylor really make over $90k these days? I had no idea they were that high over there. I figured they were more in line with other insurance defense firms which are more like $75k.
Are they still paying their associates on that convenient pay structure where your salary is basically an advance on your billable hours, and if you don't meet the requirement they dock your pay? Sounds like such a fun place to work.

Good news: Pantload Bogden fired again.
Bad news: Crooked Myrhe will run the office in the interim. All ethics will go right out of the window.
So what is up with Alessi's bankruptcy?
Ryan Alexander is getting eaten alive. That house of cards will not stand much longer.
Please elaborate.

79?! That's a whole lotta work.

Maybe they should look at more than Norheim…What about all the objections to his rulings that were routinely overruled by the supervising judge.

So true
Who else will be indicted in the guardianship scandal?
I have a wishlist…
I think three people are quite obvious: Jared Shafer, Elyse Tyrell and Amy Deittrick.
As for others, who knows?
Other attorneys who worked with Parks

Interesting to see what will happen with Norheim.

$85k plus a bonus for selling your soul.
Alverson paid me $72k ten years ago as a first year.
Ummmmm…… No. They are not paying 90k Nathan likely does not make much more…
10 years ago 72k was 15k under market. Nothing has changed. Grind Grind Grind (make sure Bruce gets .2 on everything) Then run away.
