Good Day My Dear Friends. . .

So did you see the LVRJ story today about Valner Johnson Esq.?  Apparently, the already disbarred (for life) Johnson was sentenced today to three years of probation after pleading guilty to felony charges of making false statements to FBI agents who were conducting an investigation into Johnson’s attempts to bribe an individual he believed was a bank employee.

According to the Justice Department’s website, Johnson thought it would be a good idea to try and locate “a bank employee who could assist Johnson in carrying out a scheme to misrepresent his bank balance to third parties in order for Johnson to earn large profits.”

I’m not sure exactly how this scheme was supposed to work, but it reminds me of the time I tried to assist “Wumi Abdul; the only Daughter of late Mr and Mrs George Abdul retrieve a very large sums of money from a suspense accounts in a local Bank here in Abidjan . . . .”

Anyway, is it just me or does three years of probation seem like just a slap on the wrist?  Does anyone know if the underlying fraud case still being investigated?

3 years probation after pleading guilty early in the case (with 2 level downward adjustment) is right in the middle of the sentencing range.

If anyone wants to watch a trial witness in severe pain, head over to the courthouse and watch Eglet slice and dice the executive from Teva. It's quite entertaining.

3 years probation for Valner Johnson mocks our legal system. He has assisted other crooks to extort millions. He should be punished much worse especially since he has a greater knowledge of the law and chose to take part in illegal activities with full knowledge of the potential consequences. I am very disappointed with our legal system in handing out to him a mere slap on the wrist for his conduct.

I'm looking into Valner Johnson as it pertains to a securities fraud case. Any information you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

What would you like to know? He was disbarred and is no longer an attorney. After he pled, he was accused to violating the terms of his Supervised Release. Last I heard he is back in Las Vegas and is working in another profession.
