I hope I can say this, and it not be thwacked or be taken the wrong way. I voted for Ford twice for AG and I also donated close to $1000 the second election because the alternative was despicable. However, he is NOT a good leader and NOT a good administrator. I will not vote for him for governor. I hope the Dems don’t back him.

I’m in the same boat. I voted for him twice and donated a modest amount. But he is a horrible administrator, and he seems more interested in advancing his political career (and stocking a war chest with hundreds of millions of dollars more or less given to his former employer by way of no-bid contracts on easy-to-win opioid cases), than doing the job in front of him. And it’s quite probable that if he is elected to governor, he will be running for national office rather than working for our state. I hope he proves me wrong.

The bid opened and closed very quickly with no information blasts to let people know what was happening. The selection process was entirely rigged for Eglet and laughably so. Does he think we’re that dumb? https://thenevadaindependent.com/article/attorney-generals-office-to-contract-with-ags-former-employer-on-opioid-litigation

And there’s been no explanation as to why this was put out for a bid at all. It could have easily been handled in-house had Ford reallocated resources to do so. It could have brought millions upon millions more in for the state to use on necessary opioid programs. Instead, it went straight to Eglet’s pockets… and then to Ford’s next campaign (presumably).

Lombardo will ruin any chance at reelection by supporting Trump in deporting a huge percentage of our hotel workers, construction workers, and community members. Las Vegas won’t survive without this cheap labor.

I think that you are high or maybe delusional. All of the hotel casinos in town use E-verify. Construction will do just fine, as it always has, including in 2017-2021.
I think you are up in the night.

Remember that Trump literally just won election in Nevada by solid margins. If history is any indicator, and the economy booms even a little bit. Lombardo is a lock for reelection. And I held my nose a lot while voting out Sisolak.

The contractors that the casinos use for almost everything do not use e-verify. And if history is any indicator, the economy falls during republican administrations. You can look it up or just continue to make decisions based on how you feel and what that guy with the podcast said.

Sorry homie. I represent several large Union contractors which the
casinos must use in building. And they do use E-verify.

Nice deflection though.
Of course, you are considering COVID as the reason for Trump economies “decline”.

With the war chest he amassed with his former employer (hundreds of millions in contingency fees for easy to win opioid cases the at the AG’s office could have easily handled), he is a sufficiently strong candidate. He can pay for media ads.

I used to think Lombardo was more of a pragmatic, McCain type Republican who even if I didn’t like, I could at least respect a bit. Not anymore. He is just another spineless shill. Attacking the immigrant community is stupid and a loosing initiative. A better plan would be to reform our immigration system so that it was actually functional and transparent. Immigrants are a huge plus to our community and our economy. I full despise politicians who resort to racist tropes to gen up support amongst the deplorables. Crops are going to rot in the fields, new home construction prices are going to sky rocket, and everything is going to cost more under trump’s concept of an immigration plan. I’ll treat u with respect as u seem civil. My child goes to middle school with “trans” kids. They use her restroom. Although perhaps there are occasions when one has a true need for these and I’m sure many have that challenge, she relates that these kids seem more interested in gawking. Is this true? I don’t know but the reports of this trouble me. It’s funny because I consider myself a libertarian but there has to be a better solution than this. Perhaps male female family restrooms I don’t know.

1:22 here. I agree with most of what you’re saying. I’m tired of hearing about woke ideology, but when pressed the most the commenter can say is that their kid said their were some trans kids gawking in the bathroom. My recollection of Clark County School District is that all the bathrooms have stalls with doors so I’m not sure what anyone is gawking at. It’s nonsense.

The extent that anyone’s “woke” agenda has been imposed on anyone in the State of Nevada is so minimal.

I totally get that conservative people are going to vote for the Republican every time. The opposite is true of liberal people. That’s priced in.

Can we please demand more of the elected officials within our party?

Because it seems really easy for people to win in opposition to shadow issues (on both sides) right now without actually doing anything to make people’s lives better.

Not true. I remember posting in 2016 that the private prison companies were going to donate to get trump elected and then they were going to change the immigration policy so stuff like over-staying visas was going to turn into a crime instead of a civil infraction so that they could lock up undocumented folks and funnel more tax dollars to the private prison industry. That is exactly what happened. Also, crops did rot in fields all across the south in those really smart red states that started locking up immigrations and raiding food processing plants. Crops also rotted in CA. Look it up, buttercup. But calling me a leftist and make a vague reference to “legacy media” is definitely a coherent response.

In southern Nevada, the undocumented tend to fields of 2x4s and roofing tiles. They sow concrete and reap drywall. The work would get done without them, but slower, and at higher cost.

They tend hay in Eastern Nevada. They are the steel girders propping up damn near everything in the hospitality industry in both Reno and Las Vegas. Remove them, and the whole thing comes crashing down.

What police protection? I’ve interacted with police twice this year. Once when I was the victim of a crime and had some personal property stolen. The police were so opposed to taking a report, I was even threatened by the sergeant that he was going to file charges of filing a false police report against me. Once the report actually got filed weeks later, the property was tracked to Mexico and the detective confirmed it was likely gang activity and there was nothing they could do about it now that it was in Mexico. Second interaction my blinker light went out as I was driving home. I have had my car for a few years and don’t like paying $100 to have a mechanic put in a new light bulb. I had spare light bulbs and a screw driver at home, but got pulled over and got to pay a $75 ticket for a light bulb that had literally just gone out minutes before the cop pulled me over. Did the cop give a shit that I had spare bulbs at home and it had just gone out? No. Was that a useful expenditure of tax payer dollars? Absolutely not. The amount of time and energy that went into processing that ticket far exceeded the $75 I paid.

So when I hear about cops protecting taxpayers, I think that’s bullshit. I am better off handling things myself than calling the cops because they don’t do shit.

Special treatment? I tried to file a police report over stolen property and not only did they refuse to even take the report, they then threatened to charge me with filing a false police report. How is that expecting special treatment? Are you stupid? How exactly low are your reading comprehension levels? Can you even distinguish a vowel from a noun?

The cops in this hell hole of a town are paid a lot of money to TAKE POLICE REPORTS OVER STOLEN PROPERTY. That is not asking for special treatment. That is asking them to do the bare fucking minimum.

As far as the blinker is concerned, I did not ask for special treatment; nor did the little piggy have to write the ticket. You really think it’s “special treatment” to expect cops to go after real crimes and not someone’s blinker that just went out? How about return on investment? Do you feel vindicated as a taxpayer that your tax dollars got spent on writing a ticket for a blinker that got changed out the same day? You feel good about that, bootlicker?

I’d particularly like to confront a couple family court judges. Rulings from years ago are still destroying lives. Current judge/former pro tem discovery commissioner ruled on a discovery motion during COVID that I wasn’t allowed to conduct discovery on dad leaving the little girl with a strange man alone overnIght In a shed on his property because dad and friends wanted to get hIgh Inside the maIn house. The sittinG judge in that case affirmed the pro tem. So of course dad continued to do shit like leave the girl with strange men and of course she got raped. Endless court hearings, counseling appointments, online predators. The list goes on. Thanks family court. I hope you all get exactly what you’ve inflicted on the children in this community.

You can still file them if you wish, but the requirement is likely dead. Especially considering that the Trump administration didn’t support the law in the first place. Will probably drop the appeal I imagine.
