Friday Open Thread!

You know the drill. What’s on your mind? What’s going on behind the scenes out there? Anyone want to talk about sentencing of a certain former prosecutor? Was it fair this time? (According to the people on Fox5’s the Rant, some people think it isn’t.)

Any thoughts on what the Supreme Court will do with “My Two Moms?” How about Justice Gibbons’ proposed amendment to District Court Rule 18 requiring judges to file an order setting forth their reasons for seeking to recuse themselves?

What else is going on?

any amount of time in prison for a former prosecutor is many times longer than the same amount of time for someone else.

It was fair only because he skipped out. I guess the question is whether he skipped because the initial sentence was so unfair. Can we get a 1L in torts to analyze the causation issue?

Too bad about Jansen, a good judge! In regards to the prosecutor if he did not skip then he should have gotten a reduced sentence. Finally, on BK Judges… Laurel Davis, Candace Carlyon, and Landis from the UST office. Besides them I have no idea.

You would think that Carlyon and Davis would be in the lead but because the appointment is by the Ninth Circuit, sometimes they appoint someone (Nakagawa) who is unexpected for the locals.
