Boy, there is nothing in either of those articles that makes anybody at family court look good. It's just really troubling to me that it doesn't seem like anybody over there gets that there's a problem. (Even if you don't think there are ethics violations, which okay, but we'll go with it, don't they see that there is a least a PR problem? Nobody can at least mouth some platitudes about professionalism? Instead it's all, "Reporters are meanies!" and "Bitches be jealous!." Good god.)
I wonder if any of this will manifest in more challengers to sitting judges and/or anti-incumbent votes come primary season.

Those bonuses are ridiculous. For my class year, the bonus is nearly half of my salary.

With regard to the bonuses, we can try and look on the bright side in that money does not go that far in New York (average rent for a 1 bedroom exceeds $3000 per month) and that a lot of the people getting those bonuses are so miserable that they are still unhappy.

I agree with 10:56 AM. I would rather live in Las Vegas making my upper middle class income, paying no income tax, enjoying relatively low cost of living, access to national parks, 24 hour entertainment than live in cramped, dirty, humid, expensive taxed to death NYC while working for BigLaw. Keep your big law jobs and bonuses, I would much rather have my LV lifestyle.

Bonuses are for whiny little bitches who like money and like buying fun things.

I'd wager that what you get compensated at a big Vegas firm is still 30% higher than most attorneys with the same experience level in Las Vegas.
