It is good Catherine is on the public dole as she runs….hate to see her go without. That 200k would be hard to do without. Thank you regents! Too bad there are no legacy law firms left, she could live-off as she runs. Rico Suave was good to Jones Vargas…..as they sunk under the waves. It is too bad she needs to take an oath of office to be senator.

Why is it that the University of Nevada system has to keep Titus and Cortes-Masto afloat so they can run for federal office while safely on the state public dole?

As part of his plea deal, they should make Larry Reid confess he beat up his brother. Really….Harry excercising in the bathroom of a 7500 sq ft house? If we had Ned Day around, he fould have found out the truth. Was it a crime for the Capitol Police, to fail to summon Metro to report the crime?

Harry claims he was a boxer. Couldn't handle his falling down drunk brother. Must have been some pugilist in his day in the 1800's..

Anthem probably does not want this Reid riffraff trash in their neighborhood. Time for the HOA to force them out back to the trailerpark in Searchlight.

How is it a self parody? What is amazing is that it took this long.

It's not self parody if no one there knows who sang that song…which they don't. It's just a bad choice by their P.R. people. Somebody call Sterling Cooper.

From the RJ: "Under state law, dismissing a ticket for an unauthorized reason could constitute misconduct of a public officer, a felony punishable by a year in jail."

Come on, it's Nevada! If a crooked cop can't do a wink wink once in a while and fix a little ticket for a juiced-up friend of a city official, the whole basis of our state will collapse. Leave this one alone.

I am not sure if this is true, but a friend of my wife, whose husband is a cop, said that cops in this town (and their families) have special license plate holders that identify them as police families so that a cop pulling them over will give them a break. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this?

More importantly, does anyone know what those license plate holders look like, so I can get/make one?

The ones you are thinking of say KOM 674. KOM means kin of Metro. The way I understand how it works is if your are pulled over you advise the officer that you are related to officer so and so (the officer who pulled you is initially tipped off by the fact your plate holder says KOM 674) and then depending on the violation they don't cite you as they would regular citizen.

I forgot to mention I have heard the KOM 674 was said to be the FCC call sign for Metro so there is some different theories I have heard over the years.

The FCC designator is correct. Many police agencies in the country have similar license plate holders but with a different number. Typically only larger agencies or, more correctly, police unions, go to the trouble of making the plate holders because not every cop knows all the other cops. In Las Vegas, before some enterprising soul made up a bunch and began selling them at the Broad Acres Swap Meet in the late 90's, the only way to get one was to be a PPA member. The plate holder is the vehicular equivalent of a frat pin or academy ring. Only the other member looking at it is supposed to know what it is and act accordingly. I know, shocking that police would give other cops and cop families a break. And they investigate crimes against regular folks the same as if it occurred to a cop, politcian or prosecutor. And I have some mining stock from the Ophir mine on the Comstock that is still valid and will GIVE it to you if you simply let my cousin the Nigerian prince to deposit a few checks in your IOLTA account for a day or two.
