Giving Wolfson the top floor would be wrong. The DA's office should be removed from the courthouse entirely. He should be housed with his deputies across the street or in another downtown building. He sure as hell should be sitting on top of a throne over the judges.

can you imagine how strategy and practice would change if they weren't housed in the RJC? It would be good for everyone…except maybe taxpayers, but it might be worth it.

Most of the deputy DA's are not in the RJC. It's Wolfson and a relatively few others.

I have never heard of prosecutors and judges being housed in the same building with no space for the defenders. I think the DA needs to get their own space and not be in the RJC. You would not believe the conversations that go on in the back elevators!

I don't work in Nevada anymore, but my office is across the street from the courthouse, which houses the DA's and judges. Also, the FPD is in the Wells Fargo building and the AUSA's are in the courthouse.

Public Defenders should never be in a courthouse-it is a bad visual and impacts independence.

How could PDs impact influence, but DAs not? Also, I'm pretty sure the AUSA's have their own shiny new building now and are no longer in the courthouse.

2:31: There isn't even a pretense that DAs are independent of the judiciary. PDs should, as much as possible, look like "pay lawyers." The AUSAs have their own building-the Tower of Injustice.

Haire and Chrisman would both be excellent. Not a big fan of Erin getting the gig.

Based on my experience in an arbitration with him, Chrisman should not get it. So in my book its either Haire or Truman.

Haire, with experience on both sides of the aisle, should get it.

The Raiders are coming to Las Vegas with a 31-1 vote in favor.

they'll play at least the next two years in Oakland and possibly a third since the new boondoggle, I mean stadium, won't be complete until 2020. Super Bowl LV (55) seems like destiny.

Haire would be outstanding as the next ADR Commissioner. Hope he gets it. Erin Truman was Allstate's lead counsel. Have not seen or heard from her since she went into private practice supposedly in ADR. Will the NJA crowd lobby against an insurance in house counsel as the next ADR Commissioner?

as part of the "NJA crowd" but not speaking for it yes, I would think so. Haire has been on both sides so he seems to be a better choice all the way around.

Any first hand reports from the new courthouse celebration? I'm hearing footmen in wigs, catering by the Four Seasons, and a juiced mayor. Not kidding. Anyone know who is picking up the tab for this?

yeah, where is the live-blog for this event? We can't let the raiders overshadow Hardesty's new groove.

All while legal services are federally on the chopping block. The footmen are in poor taste.

So did they find the footmen on Fremont Street? Did they make their law clerks dress up? Who is paying for this? And aren't there 1000 better uses for this money?

Rumor has it that the footmen were out of work Boyd '13s who did it for a free lunch.

Embarassing. Truly an embarrassment. And the article which talks about how austere the Courthouse is because this is a place to do work. Well then do your work, and get opinions out the door. For example the case last week where Judge Navarro withdrew her certified question request pursuant to NRAP 5 because you took too long and never answered the question.

For those who believed Hardesty when he talked about how modest the Courthouse is, go look at it with its blood red curtains behind the bench. Its a lavish boondoggle. Look on Facebook at the pictures of the Justices (and the Judges) all sitting there smugly enjoying your tax dollars. Say what you will about the one in the RJC, it was functional and not over the top. This thing is just wow.
