The sole applicant has been a member of the Bar here for 2 years (yeah I know he was licensed in other places). How about contribute to our state and bar for at least 5 years before asking to be placed on the Bench?
If I understand it correctly, the person who gets appointed will have to turn around and run in 2022 for the remainder of the term. Incumbency means nothing as we found out in the last cycle. Honestly I'm not expecting much in terms of applicants here, apart from the usual suspects.
Did you read his application? He was unemployed for 4 of the last 7 years, states that almost all his job changes were for "spouse's job relocation," and he has only 2 years of practicing litigation experience since 2009. Anyone else want to run? I know we have local attorneys who have more experience than this, please run.
/when are the applications due? I heard conflicting dates. Anyone know for sure?

Honestly Jeff German's take on the Harry Claiborne story was remarkably even handed. A travesty to this day.

Brett Whipple would have gotten away with it if it were not for those pesky kids (insert Scooby Doo Reference) or maybe it was his bookkeeper who just was fed up with his BS and client fee mingling. Got nothing against the man personally. Years ago he came to me and wanted me to teach him my area of specialty. He was running a notario service out of his office and let’s just say, not the sharpest tool in the shed. I had to clean up a lot of his notaria’s messes. He then pivots and decides to represent Bundy (no hate here but I saw that train wreck coming. I know that type of client, half of my family hails from his part of that state) and then Bundy dismisses Brett for IAC. No good deed… Jesus man, get one of those expensive legal coaches and figure out what you want to do. Not a bad attorney, just all over the place. My opinion.
I consider Brett a friend, he really is a good person. The attorneys who have come out of that office are successful and they will all tell you what a great guy he is, he takes care of his employees. Ironically, Brett has a degree from an Ivy league school and he isn't dumb. I will agree that he is disorganized as shit but unfortunately that describes a lot of us crim guys in private practice. And the way he does cross freaks me out, looks directly at the jury and not the witness he is crossing, but it's a technique I guess. I find that as solos get older, it appears some cut corners and that is where they get in trouble. I also think that due to his nature, Brett is too trusting and he got burned by an employee. But I can't emphasize enough that he is a good attorney and he just got caught up in a combination of disorganization and trust in the wrong people.
Brett is a nice man. Made mistakes. Wish him well unlike 90 percent of my colleagues.

I was around during the Claiborne days and I dont think I have vocabulary to properly reflect the disdain we (Nevadans) had for outside influences, it was almost like we preferred the mob, etc rather than those outside – that's one reason it always surprises me how we have accepted the influx of Californians, although I understand the differences , the bar was a little more about protection than wiping out the solos like it is now, but excuse typing, on cell, seems a little disjointed but I hope my points tie together

Called DETR appeals with no news on over 6 month appeal. Hung up on. Called and left a message. Called back by an unidentified woman with DETR to get screamed at. No information other than lies being told that everything is resolved when nothing is resolved. So lied to, and cannot get information when appeal will be handled. Told head chief of appeals to wait in line like everyone else. WAFJ.

I have waited for several weeks to comment so that I don't reveal my identity since it is obvious that certain judges do read this blog, but holy cow! Rhonda Forsberg really is as bad as some commenters have noted in the past. She is so emotional and screeches when she loses her temper. Serious problems in that courtroom.

Kind of presumptuous to put his application in, but at least he remembers each and every traffic ticket!
Gee, I wonder why more people don't put themselves out there and run. What could it be?
No thanks, I want to live.

Another great choice for Nevada by our SizzleLackey.
