- The 9th Circuit ruled in favor of Clark County with regard to Dotty’s challenge. [Las Vegas Sun]
Do you think anyone is going to challenge the sitting justices or court of appeals judges? I think there'll be at least one challenger, but there's a good chance they go unchallenged.
Maybe the Feds should stop patting themselves on the back about giving some idiot lady 120 years and prosecute all those very dangerous, unstable, heavily armed crazies involved in the Bunkerville/Bundy incident. Failure to do so has now empowered them to pull this crap in Oregon. I do realize it is likely Washington had a strong influence on hoping it would blow over and go away and the wackos have a few relevant points but armed insurrection should not be tolerated.
I wonder what well thought out response Michele Fiore will have to respond to the situation? Like the gun (guns) calendar. Didn't realize she had done soft porn. I pray for the Nevada legislature. Frightening.
Don't forget the Bundy incident brought those two Metro police officer murderers here from Indiana.
Yes.
Whatever the motivation, what good is being done by locking up 2 ranchers in Terminal Island for 5 years for a brush fire? And 121 years for driving a getaway car while the gun man gets half that time? The AUSAs should be ashamed at the public cost of overincarceration; instead they slap each other on the back for the destruction which they cause. The time is now to talk about reasonable and meaningful sentencing reform.
You are missing my point. The crazies should be charged with loaded weapons pointed at Federal Officers and multiple additional felonies. I don't disagree that sentencing reform is needed but anarchy by mentally ill people and tax dodgers instigating this behavior cannot be tolerated. I am a lefty.
This is all Tea Party or worse.
I did not miss your point. The Government doing horrific things to good (or not that bad of) people provides no justification for bad people doing horrific things to good people. Pointing a gun at a Federal officer should be punished. Breaking into property which does not belong to you (whether owned by the Government or a private landowner) should be punished. But "terrorism" charges and life sentences for civil disobedience? Giving life sentences for MJ possession and sales? Honestly I think the general public has no clue that they are paying for the oversentencing and are no safer and substantially poorer for the benefit of nobody but an all-encompassing DoJ. And I am conservative.
??? WTF. I did not say anything about life sentences. And you seem to be condoning the takeover based on burning fields on public land for personal gain. My point is the lack of repercussion for t6he illegal activity in Bunkerville empowered these protesters to continue armed, hostile criminal anarchy,.
Hopefully we have evolved beyond the Boston Tea Party et al and these knuckleheads are not the Minutemen. Let us not fall into some weird Pahrump Alternative Universe.
