I presume that is not a reference to the case above. CCSD officer unjustifiably tackles a kis, shoves him in the gutter and puts his knee in the kid's back for the offense of the kid videoing the officer in a public place. I am a Republican, but the ACLU appears to have it right on this case.
The ACLU can get it right once in a blue moon (less than a broken clock twice a day). But overall, it's a garbage organization. Most recent example of how extreme they've become is their defense of transwomen competing in sports against biological women and the audacity of their claim that it would not put biological women at an unfair physical disadvantage.
The ACLU sat out covid "police power" laws, the biggest crackdown on civil liberties. Even if they obviously agreed with the police power, they should have still fought for civil liberties on principle as they did in Skokie.
@11:34 Not
Lets not jump to a conclusion here. The student video shows the event, but not what preceded. The ACLU spokesperson admits that what preceded is not known to the organization. There are situations where an officer has to take down someone to control the situation. Keep in mind that many 16 and 17 year olds are stronger than many adults.
There is a longer video. The officers' actions toward the student who was suspected of a firearm were completely reasonable. The actions toward student who was chased behind the vehicle while videotaping as the officer swiped at his phone and who was (unconstitutionally) ordered by the officer to halt videoing the incident before being thrown into the gutter? Dont need to jump to conclusions; just watch the video.
Looks like judgment may have already been recorded against Leslie’s home in Vegas. They may take Leslie’s long-standing family home that he wanted to pass on to his children. Poor Leslie.
If they recorded it, it would attach to what appear to be three properties including one for a business. He can only protect one with a homestead so they'd be able to foreclose on the building he uses for his law firm offices as it isn't owned by his law firm (big mistake in this case.) Then if that doesn't pay it, a charging order would be next.
It may attach to the business location but that doesn't guarantee a foreclosure will provide any funds to satisfy a judgment. It is highly possible that he already withdrew the maximum amount of equity he had in the property leaving little to no equity to be recovered. If he did a cash out refinance at the height of the market, it is theoretically possible that the property is upside down due to the market softening over the last 6 months. This of course doesn't account for the foreclosure costs.

ACLU
Once respected and did good work. Now, looking for someway to justify its continued existence while maintaining cash flow from donors.

Unfortunate coincidence that CCSD Police Chief is named "CCSD Police Chief Mike Blackeye".
"Commentary: Do women's lives matter to federal courts?"
What a dumb commentary.
Agree. My takeaway from the article is more women need guns.
The Current isn't a serious website/news outlet.
Orange man bad.

Wow. So Pete and Kendie do have Leslie by the balls. I doubt they will show mercy.
